Thanks to all for the great info. I contacted Dave at No Excuses and recieved some info. Only the 460 is legal in colorodo and he said that several of his clients shoot omegas with 70-85 grains of 777 for best results. So that will be my starting point, then I will try the rest. Should be a great spring of testing bullets and powder. I will keep you all posted on my findings. This will be a group project because the hunting partners that will be joining me all shoot Omegas and love to burn powder.

I have read where others shoot into a soil bank, or stacks of plywood or wet newspapers or some have shot into 1 gallon paint buckets of water stacked in a line with about 4" air gap between the paint buckets. 9 paint bucketsin a row.You can then judge the penetration, expansion and hitting power of the bullet.A bullet that only goes thru 1 gallon of water is not that good. A bullet that goes thru 9 paint buckets is excellent. I have read where a flat nosed cast bullet penetrated 39" of balistic gel.

Chap Yespenetration will be important after accuracy. I use a 3/4 inch piece of plywood and 3-4 phone books forpenetration and most importantly lead retention. I was the guy that got blasted by the powerbelt lovers during the fall after I reported their light weight bullets exploded on impact. The light weights were the worst of 10 slugs I tested. Now for those PB lovers I did not test the heavier bullets. They will be a part of this test. Also after reading more articles than I can believe about the PB I am thinking that they can not be pushed with alot of powder. At 100 grains they have major issues. Just my finding as a non expert. I have a simple formula for success. I want a bullet to be able to blow through a shoulder and enter the boiler room intact not in pieces.

Something to think about is the fact that if you are hunting deer the heart lung area is quite a bit different in location than pig or bear, I also like the back edge or very slightly behind the shoulder on deer but hold forward of that on bear or boar. Lee

You won't have any penetration problems with a 460gr No Excuse. You might try some of the Bullshop offerings also (he has a 460gr bullet). Just bought 500 conicals from the Bullshop---only cost $118.

N-rod Bullshops will be test #2 after no excuses. What are you shooting for powder and a gun? Our testing crew is going to shootpioneer, 777 and clean shot powder. We all shoot Omega's so this could be a interesting spring. Also, with these two slugs did you use a wad betwen the powder and slug Thanks again
