Newbie to muzelloaders. Here in Ohio we are allowed to use muzzleloader in regular firearms season. Instead of buying deer shotgun I thinking about getting into scoped inline mizzleloading. I’m told they can be accurate out to 150yds. I see models running from 99-600$ in 45 and 50 calibers and don’t have a clue what I’m looking at . if anybody can lead me to information I need on the net it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

ANY OF YOUR MAJOR BRANDS MAKE GOOD IN-LINES, BUT I FEEL THE BEST ARE KNIGHT FOR WHICH I USE, AND THOMPSON CENTER. THEY BOTH MAKE NUMEROUS MODEL IN-LINES. I LIKE THE .50 CAL, USING 2 50 GRAIN PELLETS OF PYODEX, WITH A 250 GRAIN KNIGHT RED HOT SABOT MADE BY BARNES. YOU NEED TO SHOULDER EACH FIREARM TO SEE WHAT FITS YOU BEST, AND ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR CHOICE NEED TO EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT LOADS OF PELLTS OR POWDER, AND SABOTS.

The money you're willing to spend will buy you most of the standard grade inlines, but if that $600 also includes your scope budget then that's a different story.
If I were to buy a new muzzleloader today I would probably buy either another Knight DISC (Extreme) or a Thompson/Center Omega. Since I already have a DISC (original version) I'd probably opt for the T/C since it's something different and I like the falling block concept a lot.
I don't have anything bad to say about my DISC rifle. It's a very well built quality rifle, it's very accurate, very comfortable to shoot (thumbhole stock). It's simply the best muzzleloader I've had the privilege of shooting.

TreestandEd, like you I am new to this BP. But I started looking last year for a gun, which I knew I wanted a inline. I almost got the disc, but after seeing the Omega .50, I went with it. I put the shot- gun down and took the Omega out all season and loved it. I'm hooked and beleive it's my new gun for shotgun and muzzle season. Here in NY with snow, dripping from ice melt on trees, just plain nastey weather. I'll admit I was wondering it would go off, 4 deer later and the worry is gone. Today I'll try my luck for the only day I'll get for muzzle season. With the quality of BP guns out there it's hard to pick the wrong one.
