I like 3F Blackpowder. It has been consistent for me. I think temperature has little effect on your powder. I think the biggest problem is moisture, or humidity. Tom.

I used to use gorex and T7.
Gorex has become impossiable to find local and I found that T7 works in my side locks so I use that. I bought 10 pounds of it last spring when Wally World had it on sale for $7.00 so I have enough for a couple of seasons yet.

I have to admit that I am limited in my knowledge of the available powders out there, so when you refer to 3F Blackpowder, is that an alternate powder such as Pyrodex or 777? Same for Gorex and Blackmag 3? Or is that just a brand name for a particular blackpowder?
I am familiar with 777, Pyrodex, and Jim Shockeys Gold...just haven't heard of the others.
Thanks

I'VE BEEN SHOOTING BLACK POWDER GUNS SINCE TH 80'S BEST POWDER i EVER USED IS SWISS FOLLOWED BY GOEX. NEVER FOUND ANY OTHERS THAT WORKED BETTER. I CAN UNDERSTAND GUYS USING THE FAKE STUFF IF THEY CAN'T USE THE REAL THING . i'VE BEEN LUCKY IN THE FACT i CAN DRIVE 5 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE AND BUY IT. MOST OF MY BLACKPOWDER GUNS ARE FLINT ALTHOUGH i DO HAVE A SHARPS CARTRIDGE GUN. I DO KNOW THAT SWISS POWDER WILL OUT PERFORM ALL THE FAKE POWDERS BUT LIKE I SAID BEFORE I'M A FLINT MAN NEVER SEEN ANY NEED FOR PELLETS. SSettle
