I noticed this the other day. Except for the shorter, nonfluted barrel, and the cheap plastic sights, it pretty much looks like the Elkhorn. I need this rifle like I need a hole in the head, I have two stainless rifles. But a first timer shooting a 410 GP with 80 grains RS could lay pretty much anything flat with this rifle.

Years ago, when the Staghorn was the bottom of the line CVA rifle, I bought one. It has the nickel barrel, 24" long, 1-28 twist (stamped on the barrel) and the black synthatic stock. While the barrel to stock fit is not perfect, I only paid $89.00 for the whole thing. The funny part is, 90 grains of powder and a number of different projectiles, especially powerbelts, and this thing will really shoot impressive groups.
If the Wal Mart around here had them for that price, while I do not need them, I might by a couple and give them as gifts to nephews or something... that is a really good deal.

Is the Elkhorn the CVA version of the X-150? They seem pretty much the same when it comes to features/action.

My Walk Mart carries muzzleloaders but are sold out of everything. I even wonder if they are going to carry anything anymore. It seems their sales have really fallen off because of all the on line shopping.

Well its OFFICIALLY OVER at my Walmart. Every muzzleloader is gone. They had Elkhorn and the Buckhorn, I don't know how many of each. But they are gone all the same.
Cabela's is still closing out stock to include Omegas, Kodiak Pros, Kodiaks, and Optimas. I noticed that they increased the clearance price of their SS/Black Kokiak Pros to $309. Their inventories must be dwindling. I got the SS/Black Kodiak Pro for $225 (was $259 at the time) with shipping waived in consolation of their failing to ship my timely placed Apex order.

Pglasgow - funny as this sounds. Since I purchased my White Ultra Mag, I really lost all interest in another inline rifle. If I had to keep one, it would be the White. If you ever get a chance to shoot one, do so. They are really something to shoot.

Cayugad,
When all the fuss was going on about this "vendor has so many" and so on, I wanted one, a whole lot,but really couldn't get the blessing from my wifethat would have made me feel comfortable at the time. The sidekick was the first rifle I had purchasedsince we married almost 15 years ago. Before then, I collected and traded alot of firearms and still have more than I should.
The cabelas points and the sale of sidekick got me through the last two purchases without frazzlin her. A White would be great, I'd really like toown one,but it probably isn't going to happen. I'm gonna have to own my White vicariously, it seems, each time you post a pic of those awesome groups you shoot with it.
Right now, I am focused on a couplemore traditionals. Be great to find a deal like ahanster. I've been putting away a little money and taking stock of stuff which I have no use for anymore. I have a great collection of antique baitcasting reels and bamboo rods. They look pretty nice but I can't use them like I can a pretty new flinter!
I've got some rifles I really need to sell. If I do that, I'm sure my wife will encourage whatever I want to buy with the proceeds. So that's the plan!

I've got a Staghorn Mag, I shoot 100 grains of Trip 7 and a 295 grain hollow point, I made a 5/8" 3 shot group at 100 yards, taken 11 deer in 4 years with it. While its not the top of the line it works. i got my son a .45 cal Eclipse Mag CVA for 69 dollars at Gander Mountain this summer, slapped a Simmons 3x9x40 scope I got from CDNN investments for 28 bucks and it shoots good. Its not no 200 yard gun, but my son doesnt shoot that far, nor would I let him yet.
