gleason.chapmanThis particular one is 200 gr 40 cal. I find interesting to use with the 50/40 MMP sabot their are a good rang of them available they are a copper plated lead bullet and are in the 10 dollar per 100 price range and fall between the Shock Wave and the XTP in both BC and expand ability. The Speer .452 - 300 gran 454 Casual is a Gold Dot HP

The Speer .451 - 300 grain UCSP 45 Colt HV is a Uni-Core

Neither one of these two will come apart - the difference being in the nose of the bullet - which also effects the BC & the SD.

Mike, OK, thanks. The SP should simulate a Shockwave a lot closer than an HP, don't you think? Out to maybe 150 yards? They would be about 1/2 the cost of the Shockwave, since I believe I paid around $15 for box of 100 bullets at MidSouth. Chap

The Sp's are 300 grain with a very low BC as compared to the Shockwave, and he was asking about a 250 grain SW... so in my thinking @ 150 yards the biggest difference is going to be the POI if the POA are the same. The Shockwave could be 3" higher on the target - if not a little more. I would expect the 300 Gold Dot to be 1 1/2 to 2" lower than the SW.... If pglasgow gets over here he could tell ya more - he is a gee-whiz with numbers... I could actually look it up (I probably have ballistic charts already made up for both bullets) or I could just shoot the bullets on my computer simulating program and also tell you...

T/C cheap shots are a very cost efficient way to practice. Not much POI difference for practice, either, in my experience. Around 4 bucks for a 20 pack at cabela's or midsouth shooter's supply. You might also consider purchasing sabots and bullets(like hornady xtps) separately.

I didn't know what the BC was on the SP, but I knew it was not as good as the SW. Only 1.5 to 2 inches lower, wow. I bet the drop at 150 is where the difference comes in then. XTPs drop 17 or 19" between 100 and 150, so I was thinking the HP did about that and I was expecting the SP to drop only say 6", and the SW to drop 3" with a sight in of dead on at 100 yards. Thanks for info. Chap

Lee,
Thank You for the link they look and sound like a good bullet, and I love the price. Anybody shot them into game or did any sand or soil penetration tests?

What Pittsburghunter said - get the TC Cheapshots. They're all lead, accurate, and lethal on the deer. If you shooting at normal woods ranges, they're prob as good - maybe better - than the Shockwaves for killing deer.

On the downside... they're not as pretty or as sleek.
