Even though I decided against getting a Thumbhole stock for my Omega I gotta say when you shoulder it they really feel a bit more solid, steadier so to speak. I also like the way they look...

My thing against them is when you are carrying them as if you would while moving in the field, weather in route to a stand or while stalking. To me they feel uncomfortable, but that is just me. I really only walked around carrying one for a15 or 20minutes but it seemed that my thumb was at a bad angle to carry around a weapon like that for any length of time.

If you only have a short walk to a stand and dont stalk I would say they are pretty nice.

Also, unless someone comes up with some kind of concrete information that would sway you one way or the other I think you will findpersonal experience is the best thing you should go with.

I got an Omega with one last year. Didn't like the way you had to reach around the stock to cock the hammer. Could be a bad deal in a situation where you had to shoot fast. I also tried a thumhole stock on my .300 Win Mag awhile back. As comfortable as it felt in the shop, at the range I only lasted two shots. The recoil gave me a bruise about the size of a dime on the back knuckle of my thumb. On the positive side, I have a HS Precision T/S stock on my .22-250 Ackley. Most comfortable stock I have ever owned.

Pros: Looks nice, maybe more solid trigger and recoil control

Cons:
I take too many left handed shots to have one
not near as quick to draw,
In a rifle you have to cock, can be difficult in a hurry
usually very expensive.

I have one on my new Omega. I like the way it
shoulders, especially when shooting from a elevated
deerstand. I have not noticed any problem cocking
the ML. I use a sling on mine but I carry old military
style ie; muzzle pointed down. But as posted it is
more of a personal preference thing.

I don't know what all the BS is about I have one on my Omega and I love it. I would love to have one on all my long guns. I don't shoot left handed so I.m all set and I think the thumv hole makes carrying a lot easier. Abain Its a matter of opinon. Mike
