Barnes new TMZs are here
Just got my 290 gr TMZs,from Cabelas, yesterday. They look realy good.
Here is the balistics as printed on the box. ( Knight brand, they were quite alot cheaper-- $15.99 for 30 comp. to $18.95 for 24 for Barnes)
150 gr. of 777 ---- 290 gr TMZ
Range (yds.) 0 50 100 150 200
Bullet Impact -1.50 .51 0.00 -3.48 -10.45
Vel. (ft/sec) 2011 1857 1712 1579 1458
Ener. (ft/lbs) 2604 2221 1888 1606 1368
If these balistics are accurate these should be very good out to 200 yds.

What rifle are you using with the new Knight bullets? Are they 451s? Let us also know the difficulty level forloading/seating?
That's a big price difference between what appears to be two identical bullets in different brand packages.

I am shooting an Omega. I think they are supposed to be .451 but I checked a couple of them and, with my digital calipers, the were .450. Maybe they will load decent in my tight Omega. They came with yellow sabots but I have some HPH 24s and some crush ribs if the yellow ones are too tight. I haven't tried to load any, yet, but I will soon. We just experienced a death in the family so that wll, pretty much, put everything on hold for awhile.

Its odd you should post this thread. I was looking at the Cabela's Shooting Catalog just the other day.I noticed the Barnes and Knight bullets you are talking about. I also noticed the price difference. They have them on opposite pages. I wondered to myself, how many people paid they extra money for 6 less bullets.
Anyway, keep us posted and let us know how they shoot.

I haven't been able to shoot them yet but I did try loading them in my Omega. With the sabots that came with them they loaded fairly hard, with a clean barrel, don't know if they would be too hard with a spit patched barrel. They load very good with a HPH 24, pretty loose with a crushrib. They load easier than the 300 gr Barnes MZs, the crush
