gander mtn here sells geox 2f or 3f. i think it is 18 dollars for a 1 pound can.some drive to factory and buy it in bulk and sell it to friends.lot cheaper that way.20 dollar hazard fee is not way to go.
I disagree. I just checked Powder Inc. 5 lbs of Goex Ffg or Fffg, delivered to Grand Blanc, MI would cost a total of $89, including the hazmat fee, or $17.80 a can. 5 lbs of KIK, which I feel is better than Goex, would be be $84.50 total, or $16.90 a can. Even with the hazmat fee it is cheaper than the $18, plus tax, that you said Gander Mountain wants per can. You don't have to burn gas to get it either, UPS delivers it to your door.If you can find someone else in your area, with whom you can combine an order, the price is less because the hazmat fee is the same and the cost per lb is also cheaper for larger orders. A 10 lb order would be $14 per can for Goex or $13.10 a can for KIK. A 25 lb order would cost $10.86 a can for Goex and $9.66 a can for KIK, again all delivered to your door.

These prices, even with the hazmat fee and delivery charges, are far cheaper than most shops that stock blackpowder. I have only onesporting goods store in my area that handles blackpowder. They only stock Goex and it is $17, plus tax, per can. Plus, I have to drive 50 miles round trip to get it.I am all for supporting local shops but not at any cost. Online retailers of blackpowder give you better selection of brands and save you money, even with the hazmat fee and delivery charges.

You are correct. I forgot to mentionto DYMOND that he can really save if he orders bulk from Powder Inc. Which is why I order 10 or 25 pound lots of Swiss BP.

I was not sure just how much "getting back into muzzleloading" DYMOND was going to do. So I wanted to give him a local shop contact for BP as well in case he only wanted or could afford a pound or so.

And I agree with that. If someone only wants a lb or 2 is easier to just make the trip and pay the price. I just wanted to point out that the hazmat fee does not make shipping of blackpowder prohibitively expensive and if a person buys as little as 5 lbs, they can still have it shipped to them cheaper than it costs to buy it over the counter, in most places.

The Swiss is great powder isn't it? The next time you order from Powder Inc, you might want to try a lb or two of KIK. I think you will like it, with performance close to Swiss at a cheaper price than Goex.

I buy all my powder from Powder Inc. and I have seen KIK advertized. I just never bought it because someone told me it is bad about fowling. Besides, I have such good luck with Goex. I guess I am just going to have to try some of the KIK. What grain do you shoot to compare to the Goex 2f?

Swiss is exceptional powder. I've never shot KIK. Perhaps I'll give it a try as I'll be ordering powder later this year.

Can you elaborate as to being "close to swiss"? How close? What granulation?

SwissBlack Powder although spendy, has the best characteristicsI've found among traditional BP for:consistancy, ignition, velocity, power, cleanliness and accuracy.

Those that live in the I 75 corador might be able to find a lot of there BP supplys at Flint & Frizzen on Dixie Hiway north of theExit off 75. They have a big WWII duck parked in the front yard west side of the road.
