I am a big time bowhunter who didn't use to give a rat's butt about gun hunting but now I am all of a sudden on a muzzleloader kick. I just got a T/C Omega w/ the thumbhole stock(pretty awesome) Should I shool 2pellets of pyrodex and when should if ever 3.

The rifle will give you over 700lb more muzzle energy with three compaired to two with a 250 shockwave bullet. but two gives you almost 1900lb enough to take down about everything at close ranges (100yds or so). Being a bow hunter I bet you get more close range possibilities than a stand hunter like myself. Good luck with your rifle.

Try two pellets first and see what kind of accuracy you get. After you tune the scope or sights in with two pellets, then try three pellets and see what happens. Unless you are shooting some extreme distances and trying to take some monster thick skinned beasts, I would think two pellets will be all you would need. Although if you like spending the extra money and the recoil of three pellets, then have at it.
Like already said, since you're a bow hunter you are well aware of the need to get animals in close. You have the best of both worlds and a great rifle. Good luck with it. And Welcome to the forum!! nice to have new posters.

You can use (3) 30's or(2) 50's!
If you are going to stay within 100yds, I would use (1) 50 and (1) 30, see how it prints on paper with a 5 shot group. Then go to (3) 30's and then go to (2) 50's.
Stay with the one which gives you the best group! Good luck!

Having played with the Pyrodex pellets quite a bit, I have settled on two 50's and a 30 as a nice compromise of horsepower, accuracy, and recoil. I also intend to, when the weather warms up a bit, try four 30 grain pellets.
There are only a few sabot rounds that seem to shoot well with 150 grains of pellets, in my experience. One of them is the 250 grain Barnes Expander MZ - but they cost almost a buck apiece. And the magnum loads are really for shots beyond 150 yards. As Cayugad suggested, try two pellets first. If they shoot well and seem like all the recoil you want to endure, quit right there and go hunting.

I just got an Omega too. Here is the group I got at 25 yds shooting it in the other day. I didn't have time to shoot at longer ranges. I am going to shoot at longer ranges some time this week. The group on the right was a 5/8" three shot group. The shot to the left was opreator error not the gun. The load was with two 777 pellets and a 240 gr TC XTP MAG.
