Alternative to fouling shot
#11
Roundball.. you are one of the few I know that do that. I have friends that when we are out hunting for the day it is hard enough to make them remember their #11 1075's and ramrod. Cleaning patches and solution would be expecting far too much for them. Granted I carry a few patches and alcohol in the possible bag but have never broke the rifle down or spent more then a patch or two and a couple dry ones getting the swabbing done. You really are shooting on a clean barrel again....

my alternative was to just keep shooting differant loads with differant bullets. until i found one that shot within an inch in a dirty or clean barrel. every rifle is differant but i tried sabots, patch & balls and finally settled with a pre-lubed 385 grain conical with 90 grains. 80 grains shot ok but the gun really liked the 90 grains with this load. the xtp's shot good but the clean-up was not worth the time. melted plastic in the barrel was not for me. patch and ball shot real well but the first shot was out a couple of inches. maybe if you keep trying you will luck on to one as i did. it may take time but i think you'll find one with all the differant choices available. good luck

I have read posts of people with similar problems. What they do is after they load the projectile they run a thin film of bore butter on a patch down the barrel to the projectile. From whatI read they claim that the thin film of bore buttersimulates the fowling that would have normally been found in the bore.
All you can do is try it. I personally do not have to do that. If you try it, let us know your results.

Well I am glad to hear that. Now if this ever happens to me I know what to try. Also with that film of bore butter, if you do not get to shoot it off that day, at least you know the barrel was somewhat protected by the bore butter...
Now all you need is for the deer to cooperate and test this theory..
