i went and got the mail this evening when gettin of the bus and found that i had a package from north american hunting club. Well long story short, after reading the paper in the package i thought what the heck why not try it but then i got to think,is it too good to be true?? I know that i will more than likely not get anything from them to try for free but it would be nice to say that i am a member of a huntin club of some sort.
Has anyone esle gotten/send one of these in. is it worth sendin it or should i just keep my money and spend it on somethin else,,
dont know what to do so i can here for insight,,should i do it or not

Are you talking about getting free stuff to try out for them? I have been a member for many years. As a member of the North American Hunting Club, they have a program you can sign up for called Field Tester. In that program you are given different hunting items to test how they work in the field. You then write an evaluation on the products and how it worked for you. They have the right to publish your evaluation in the magazine also.I have tested a number of different products for them.
Also their magazine is well written. They have a good pro staff that write the articals. And the organization seems to be fully dedicated to the hunter. They also have a forum and other things that you can get in on. I guess if it interests you, perhaps look further into it....

I joined that club a good number of years ago, but in the 1 year I was a member, never received anything to test. I let my membership lapse. I probably should have stayed longer, but was impatient. I did enjoy the magazine, and they now have a GREAT TV program on the Outdoor Channel. I think they do a wonderful job.

I was a charter member of this club when it started in 1981 and stayed a member until 1985. I never got anything to field test but got a charter member hat. It is a good mag. and worth the price of the membership. Other than the mag. I saw no other bennie..... Mike

For those that never got anything to "test," you are aware you have to physically sign up. You contact the club, fill out an application telling them what your interests are, what you hunt, what kind of items you use, etc. Then all of that used to have to be mailed back.I think you can do all of this on line now. Also after you test an item you are not eligable for another item until you send in the review from the one you tested.
Over the years, I can think of several things I tested. Granted they were nothing real valuable cost wise, but are things I still use. I mean things like deer grunts, scents, hand warmers, space blankets, a fanny pack, powerbelts (nice to get free ammo), and a universalturkey tool (those are just the ones that come to mind). All of them you of course get to keep.
They do have a great magazine. Their writers include Chuck Adams, Jim Shocky, and a bunch of other big name outdoor writers. You can also send them questions, or comments..and they do at times answer you in the magazine.
The one thing I dislike is all the junk mail you get from them, wanting you to purchase this or that kind of hunting item. Granted the stuff is all top quality and the reviews are all favorable, but if I want to buy a knife for instance, I do not want one so fancy I'd be afraid to take it into the woods...

Cayugad is correct , you have to fill out a Field Test Profile each time you want to be considered for a product test . I just got a pack of Lightfield 300 grain sabot muzzleloader rounds to test yesterday , they're spitzer boattails and should be a hoot to shoot . I have gotten a product to test every year that I've been a member , though most were kinda lame . At best you might get one per year due to high demand and member numbers .
PSEsilverhawk , if you're not a member and they sent you something by mistake you can keep it free of charge according to postal regulations . If you are a member then test the product and have fun . Don't forget to return the Field Test Report or you won't get any more products .

I was a member back in the late 80's and let my membership lapse. I rejoined the club about 4 years ago. I really like the magazine and have also purchased several of their books from the book club. Although I have filled out the necesary paperwork to be eligible for field testing products, I have never received any. I also send in the card every month. That kinda irks me but oh well.
I agree that they send out too much junk mail. If they and the NRA would stop sending all that junk they could probably save thousands of dollars and wouldn't have to keep asking me for more donations!
