I think Paul hit it right on the head. Before you shoot your rifle, be sure and run an alcohol patch through the bore of the rifle. This will help remove the oil, dirt, crud, etc. Then I like to push an alcohol patch all the way down the bore and rest it on the breech. Now is when I pop two 209 primers. This will blow all the oil and crud out of the breech plug. Also if you pull the patch and check it, you will see how good of a flame is getting through breech plug. Normally one 209 primer will blow the patch right back over the cleaning jag.
It sounds like the breech plug is not cleared. If you blow that 209 through there, it will open the fire channel and make the ignition faster. Also if this does not cure the problem, then check your powder....

cayugad,
Didn't I read a past post of yours about cleaning the ML with mixture of windex and water? Also, what do you use to clean inside the breech plug. I have soaked in the above mixture and then use the wire (thingy?) to clean the inside of the plug. I've been using 777.
New to ML.

Dog1 not enough enfo to reply in full but what Cayugad is talking about is cleaning before the first shot. You have to remove that wonderful oil that has protected your gun since you cleaned it. Alchohol cleans oil out real well and evaporates fast. The other mix he uses is for range cleaning between shots. Hope this helps.

Is this some old Triple Se7en powder? The powder I have is real easy to ignite.

If you are shooting a breech plug like what I have on my CVA Staghorn Magnum where there is no real opening through the breech plug other then a small pin hole on the chamber side end, I also soak that plug in Butch's Bore Shine or some kind of solvent. After wiping off the outside of the plug, I have some compressed air or will take it to the air compressor in the garage and blow all the crud inside that breech plug out. That will clean it so well that you can hold it then up to the light and actually look through the pin hole because it is no longer blocked.

I've been having the same problem. I really liked it last year. Now this year is sucks in the humidity. It's all sticky in my barrel and I have problems with it not firing on a follow up shot. I have to use two caps to get it to go off sometimes. It doesn't seem to want to group as well either. Maybe my powder went bad since last year? I have like a half lb left. Looks like I will be making some home made fireworks.
I just got a H&R ultra delux slug gun to play with this year and think I am going to use that for regular gun season. I think Pioneer will be in my future for next year.

You can dry out powder by leaving the top off outside in a safe place on a very dry day or put one of those things that come with electronics (dissecant pellets?) in the can as well. Pinnical powder comes with one of those inside of the can. I have never had an issue with T7 not going bang and going bang quickly.
