Yeah I gotta agree with NVMIKE here. 300 acres is only 3,602 feet squared. If you don't think an elk can cover that in less than five minutes you need to get out amongst the elk more. A spooked elk can cover that in five minutes running up hill in dark timber.

Well said bigbulls!! A lot of people don't realise how big, or how vast, the country is that elk live in. An wow can they cover it quickly! An elk walking slowly is moving at 9-10 miles a hour. When elk hunting its nothing to walk 10-15 miles a day in search of elk if you don't know where they are. Thats is why pre season scouting is so inportant to find out where they live in there day to day routine. A person should start scouting for elk in late spring, early summer. And continue until opening day. That way you will not spend your time searching for them but be spending it actualy hunting them. You can't hunt them until you know where they are!

I agree, and it is a lot more frustrating with a bow, compared to other weapons. You really have to study up.
