Default New Rifle

I am looking for a rifle for my wife and I have heard a lot about the 260 , but have never fired one myself. If you have any info please let me know.
I did get to fire a 50 BMG on monday what a rush. The owner said 1800 yds." no problem".

a 6.5x55mm mauser is a little better than a .260 rem. however, the .260 is a great deer rifle. It doesn't have a whole lot of knock down power, but I'm used to a .30-06, so there isn't much below that I'd consider to have a lot of knockdown power. A .260 shouldn't kick your wife's arm off either.

YOUNG 7,
I've played with a good number of .264s, but not the .260. If you go with it, take a look at the 125 grain Nosler Partition bullet. If you're still open to suggestions, you may find the 7mm-08 interesting. its a very nice cartridge and may fill your wifes needs quite nicely. Good luck.

I shoot a 260 in a handgun (savage striker) and the recoil is very manageable.

I've shot whitetails, mulies, and antelope out to 300 yards with it. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. I shoot a 120 gr nosler BT. I don't know if I would use that bullet in a rifle, but in the striker it works well.

I like to 260 so well I'm thinking about getting it in a rifle. IMHO I think it's the best deer round out there.
