The one item I would not go without would have to be my daypack full of most of the above mentioned items.Also plenty of cover scent.

a magnesium fire starter, walmart $5. Keep some tinder in a sandwhich bag w/ you. Arrange before hand to pay someone w/ horses to pack your animal out. If you run across another hunter w/ horses they will usually agree. Lastly two to four 1lb cans of black pepper per elk. When you down one COVER every piece of exposed meat w/ pepper. It'll keep everything under the sun off your animal. Flys, coyotes, grizz, birds, you name it. Also be sure to get that carcass OFF the ground as soon as its cleaned.
