txhunter58, I said to put the topic to bed because there is no way they are going to change it in the near future. They have obviously made up their minds on the long term goals of increasing revenue through higher fee's. They are betting that hunters will come back, and it's a pretty garunteed bet that they will. You can complain all you want to the CDOW but it won't change anything. I just can't understand how AZ, ID, MT, WY, UT, WA and OR can charge the same fee's ,more or less, and everyone expects Colorado to continue to sell the licenses at a discounted rate. When CO raises the fee's inline with the other states everyone craps their pants. I just don't get it. Everyone is saying I can't afford it. How much do you spend on your Colorado hunt ? 1,000 maybe 500 or 1,500 ? I spend probably around 400 or even 500 with gas, food, tags etc. You are telling me that an extra 200 is gonna make or break the trip ? If it is, then I guess the luxury of ripping of Colorado's elk herd's and CDOW every year is over. Instead of being spoiled and hunting every year now you may have to go every other year. I'm not trying to be an ass about this even though I am probably coming across as one. Sorry. I just don't get it. I would support a small tag fee for residents to lift some of the burden for non residents but not a whole lot. I do live here, I do pay Colorado taxes and I do vote in Colorado elections. Look at it this way, they didn't limit licenses on you. I think Oregon is the only other state where NR can get an OTC elk tag. I might be wrong. Anyway good luck in your fight, I think you are wasting your time and would be better served just accepting the fact and then moving on. Later.

Fisherking... You took the words right out of my mouth. All revenue brought in by the CDOW goes to the CDOW. Also, no tax money from the general fund goes to the CDOW, which means that CDOW is self financed and the antis can"t say that they don"t want their taxes going to hunting.

Oh well, I guess I'll be all alone in the woods for the second straight year......DAMN. Happy hunting in Arizona, they have some monster bulls down there. Oh wait it takes about 500 years to draw a tag. Oh well again there is always them 15 pound whitetails that you can shoot. Later.

Fisherking: You certainly won that one. Boy did I read the tea leaves wrong. I'll have to send you a check. It will be "hot" though because I spent all my money hunting your great state. LOL
Flattop: I understand where you are coming from and might well feel the same as you if I lived there, but suspect you might feel more like me if you were a nonresident. I can afford to pay the price increase every year, but do know of people to whom $200 more(now $220) really does price them out of the market. I don't have to go every year and would rather have a draw and be able to go every other year. As you have said, and the commision proved by their vote, I am beating a dead horse.
However, let's be clear about who finances the DOW's budget. Almost 70% of license revenue comes from nonresidents, but we have no voice. That percentage is in spite of selling 300,000 resident licenses and 80,000 nonresident licenses this year. As far as living, voting, and paying taxes in Colorado, that is all well and good, but not one dollar of your taxes goes to the DOW. Not sales tax, not income tax, not property tax.
But I know when I am whipped. I will expect to have a price increase each year from now on.
They did one really smart thing though, because the did also vote in the reduction of cow tags to $250. That will help a lot.
