HUNT PURCHASED HERE ON AUCTION

dep214, I had to ask, as you seem to think it is impossible to get a mount back in 3-4 months.
Even after I stated that I have gotten many mounts back in that timeframe. Yes they are of the highest quality. Some of them are pretty old now, and still in excellant condition.
And I have had mounts take up to two years also, from the same shop.
No, I won`t be delivering the pizza. Sorry!

the process takes longer than the 3 months. if you got one that quick they cut corners somewhere. i saw that done with a coyote. the hair started falling out after about a year.i have a buddy that got a striper done qickly and you can actually still smell the stupid thing. by the way i forgot to add that my father in law also has a 7x7 elk taken in chama.my son lost his very first mount because the freezer went out at the taxidermist. a very nice 9 pointer.
before i use any taxidermist i check them out. you bet i verify what he says.i am the one spending the money.

The process certainly does NOT take longer than three months.
The major time consumer in the process is the tanning of the hide. Some places have a faster turnaround time than others. Many taxidermists now do their own tanning.
What season you harvest your animal in plays a big part in how fast you get your trophy back.
Shoot one in first archery season when the man has nothing inline waiting, and the work begins.
Shoot one in the last few days of gun season, take a number.
Again you state that getting an animal mounted takes longer than the time I have gotten mine done.....so I have another question for you, dep214.
Do you have trouble comprehending my posts, or are you doubting my word?

It is not if I got one that quick, I have already stated that I have gotten several that quick! You want to look at `em, see when and where they were done, what?
I`m gonna have to go along with 6ptsika here.

The "Quick Tan" method of doin' hides is an inferior process an' many good taxidermists refuse to use it. Also, the main time factor in taxidermy production is volume, not the process itself. One man can only do so many heads. He doesn't even know how many he'll end up with 'til he's got 'em all, an' each one takes a certain amount of time. Certain customers will be first in line, certainly not whinny out-of-stater bargain hunters. Any taxidermist 'thout enuff volume to have a one year turn around either ain't a full time taxidermist, or he ain't good enuff to take yer head to in the first place.

now you are trying to get personal. i will not be pulled into that. i would not and will not use a taxidermist witha turn around of 3 months. he is cutting corners somewhere.as beaver said the quick tanning is used by very few and is not the quality as others.i read your posts and know where did i say i doubted your word. maybe you need to read again and shoiw me where i did that.i also told you i had checked with many taxidermist and none will give you back a mount in 3 months, busy or not.

Or maybe he is so big, and well respected in the industry that he has a full time staff of taxidermists working with him in his enormous shop.
BTW, this particular shop has a room as big as your house filled with awards for said work.

Umm, lets see...
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> i forgot to ask. are you the one making the delivery?<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>
Is it just me, or are you suggesting that I have an occupation along the lines of a pizza delivery boy?
Also, I stated several times that I have heads returned in 4 months or slightly less, yet you continued to say that was not possible.
That, my friend, only leaves two possible scenarios.
1. You either don`t read posts by others, or cannot comprehend them.
2. You are saying that I am less than truthful.

Two points on this revelation from a self proclaimed expert.
1. You mean to say that the taxidermists you know take care of their friends first, instead of going in order of the way heads are received?
That would be a pretty lame practice.
2. While your attempt at humour by constantly attacking out of staters, especially easterners, is occasionally funny, you need to try new material once and awhile.
BTW, I pay roughly two hundred dollars per head more at this taxidermist than most others in my area, strictly due to his quality of work. It is not because of turnaround time, heck, I am resorting to sitting mounts on the floor in a spare bedroom now because I am out of wall space to hang them.
The wife won`t go for putting any in the kitchen or dining room. Go figure!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

i believe you are the one that brought up the pizza issue.not me!!!i have never said you were not truthful.i have never said you could not read.i have never said a 3 month turnaround was impossible.maybe you did not read it well enough. i said that if you get one that quick there are some corners cut and quality is the problem.is that not what i said?i also have never said that was your job. you mentioned that thought. not me!!!i will still not come down to your level of name calling because it lacks maturity.

Now lets git this straight big boy,
Lets jus' pretend yer a small businessman. You got regular LOCAL cutomers thet send good people to you an' you do their jobs every year. You are supposed to ignore them fer some LONG DISTANCE yahoo city feller thet wants you to crawl for the $700 or so he's so graciously spendin' with you? You fergit, lots of people are taxidermists cause they don't wanna have bosses like you. An' if the feller had the big house full of awards an' all, how come he didn't do right by you an' you got a less-than-award-winnin' trophy? Jus' a guess, but I'd say he was as fed-up with yer "poor lil' victim" act as I am.
