Greets,
I have a question for the masses. I shoot a 30-06 for most of my hunting, when I am not muzzle stuffing anyway ( planning archery this year maybe too, but thats off the subject)Anyhow, my partner shoots .270 and uses the bllistic silvertips, 130gr I think. I know I can get em for 06 in 168gr or ordered in 180gr. My question is how many here have used em and what do you think of them for big game (ie deer elk black bear and cougar ). My partner hit his deer with one at a lot farther out than he should have ( 400+ yards, he got buck fever ) he got it, and when we got the the critter I was amazed at the amount of damage that little 130gr bullet did. even at that range it was a pass thru hit.
What is the opinion here on the round ? ( for 30-06 primarily even though my only comparison is in .270 )
tnx,
Terry

I have taken two moose and two elk with the 180 gr ballistic tip and was very happy with the results.I was using them in my 300 ultramag at a muzzle velocity of 3375 fps.I have also taken over two dozen canadian whitetails with 140 gr ballistic tips out of my 7mm stw and 100 gr out of my 257 wby.

I have used them in my .280 and have had GREAT success on deer. I used them in my 30-06 and it performs the same. AWSOME BULLETS.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

I just started loading the ballistic silver tips and the accuracy is great ,just not sure yet how they will work on game .I shoot a lot of barnes bullets and the penetration is very good on them . I don't want a bullet that does massive damage ,I want accuracy and penetration.
