Default bison hunting

considering a bison hunt. Interested in knowing what is involved with hunting bison, and maybe some reputable outfitters.

usa- I believe that there is still some good bison "hunting." Have you looked at Alaska? Are there any fences? I don't think so. This would be a true bison hunt. No TMH, I don't know of any outfitters, but good luck! I wish I could afford a bison permit in Alaska, maybe in a few years!

Utah has some free ranging Bison herds..the Henery Mts is one of the toughest hunts I heard about. Its also a once in a lifetime hunt here. Dont know of any guides personally I bet if you typed in what state you wanted to hunt plus the word Bison on a search you might find some.

I drew a cow buffalo tag for the Jackson Hole, WY area last Nov.
I've gone along on a couple of other buffalo hunts on ranches. There's not much difference in the animals IMO. One you hunt one on private land and the other on National Forest.

If your willing to travel a bit, there is some good bison hunting in north eastern British Columbia around pink mountian/ fort nelson area. there is also some around yukon territory. There is a rifle restiction that you must have at least a 175 Gr bullet with 25 or 2800 ft lbs at 100 yards.

Ok guys lets get this strait. There is bison hunting and bison shooting. Most “bison hunts” are shooting. But in Alberta Canada there is a herd of free ranging woodland bison (almost pure strain) they have never been extirpated or reintroduced. They have always been here and always will be. There are paths carved through the old growth woods from hundreds of years of use. Now as for being easy to hunt, No! We hunt for there tracks by snowmobile, often traveling 100km/day. Once a track is found then off through the wood tracking we go. But this can be a task with 3 feet of snow. It aint easy but once you have a 1600-2000lb critter on the ground it is worth the sore body. If anyone thinks there tough enough and interested you can E-mail me at [email protected]
