what type of sheep are you drawing for? I have applied for a few permits(bighorn), but was never drawn.

YEA WE ARE WAITING ON SHEEP DRAWING RESULTS AS WELL . I'VE ACTUALLY STARTED TO LOSE WT AND WORKING OUT. THIS NEARLY 53 Y.O. BODY NEEDS TO LOSE 25-30 LBS. AND NEED 8 MONTHS TO GET READY. WE WILL GOING SOMEWHERE FOR SHEEP WHETHER WE DRAW PERMITS OR NOT. I WILL BE USING A BOW. I'VE TAKEN ONE SHEEP 21 YEARS AGO , WITH A RIFLE IN THE DELTA WALK IN HUNT. WE SHOT TWO SHEEP FIRST EVENING AFTER A 25-30 MILE WALK IN OVER 2 DAYS. MY PARTNERS WAS 32.5 x 33.5 AT A FULL CURL. MINE WAS A ONE SHOT KILL AT 350-400 YARDS WITH A 300 WIN. MAG. HORNS MEASURED 35 x 38. AT ABOUT A CURL AND A 1/8, 11.5 YEARS OLD . NEXT YEAR MY SON DREW A TAG IN THE SAME AREA. WE PREPOSITIONED STUFF IN THE AREA BEFORE THEY CLOSED IT TO VEHICLES. THEN WALKED IN LIGHT . WEATHER GOT NASTY...SNOW, RAIN AND VERY STRONG WINDS. WE GOT WITHIN 100 YARDS OF TWO RAMS ONLY ONE WAS LEGAL BUT HE WAS IN THE 42-44" CLASS. WE WATCHED HIM FOR OVER AN HOUR HOPING HE WOULD FEED CLOSER. WE WERE GETTING COLD AND IT WAS GETTING LATE. SO I ASKED MY SON (13-1/2 Y.O. )IF HE WANTED TO USE MY RIFLE OR HIS BOW...WITHOUT HESATAION HE STATED " I CAME TO BOWHUNT " WE DISCUSSED A STALK PLAN AND I STAYED PUT HE GOT WITH IN 40 YARDS BUT WAS ABOVE IT AND COULD NOT SEE THE BIG RAM. THEY EVENTUALLY MOVED ( THANX TO ME ) AND MY SON TOOK OFF TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN. WHEN HE RETURNED HE STATED HE MISSED HIM. HE HAD A 30 YARD SHOT ABND THE CROSS WIND WAS SO STRONG IT MISSED BY A "MILE". WEATHER CONTINUED TO BE BAD AND THE NEXT DAY HE RIFLED A 38 X 40 RAM IF I REMEMBER RIGHT IT SCORED ABOUT 163.IT WAS 12.5 YEARS OLD.

Sheep hunting in CA is usually held by a state drawing and lottery. And/or an auction. The auction usually draws a bidder, for over $100,000 (6 zeros) and usually the state issues (If memory serves me right) about 6 tags!!!!!!!(give or take 4-5 tags.) This state sucks.

I really feel for you guys waiting years to draw a tag. Here in alberta bighorn tags are sold over the counter. The only catch is if you kill a ram you can't buy a tag the next season.I had to take this year off for that reason but already have next years hunt planned.
