Nice job!!! And who says a .280 ain't enough gun for Elk at long range <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
I shoot a .280 also and love it, although I've never been Elk hunting. But when I do go I'll be taking it!! Congrats!!!!!!!!

One look at the 3rds and royals and I thought it was a solid 350 bull. Very nice. I admire your persistance sticking with 313 that long. Could have gone with several other units with good chances. I got a very symetrical 6x6 Utah bull that net scores near yours, but not nearly as impressive gross. I bet it is a 7 1/2 year old bull.

Thanks for all the Congrats! Drawing a 313-02 tag is like winning the elk hunting lottery.
Zim, you're right he is 7 1/2 years old according to the check station. His ivories are almost gone, worn right to the gums, I thought he was older.
WV Hunter, Yes sir, a 280 is an elk gun! Actually I would have tried to get closer but it was impossible, he was bedded on a little timbered bench in the middle of a huge rock slide (he was hanging out with the Bighorn Rams) and there was no possible way to get closer so I took a shot across the canyon. Had to wait 1 1/2 hours for him to stand up out of his bed to get a clean broadside shot. This was my longest shot ever, my closest was a 3 yard shot with my bow.
