I haven't seen anything new on our team page for a day or 2, you guys seeing or hearing many birds? I know for myself here in PA it's been verrrrry slow. Haven't heard this little of gobbling during a first week ever. I have been watching a longbeard come out in a field this morning and yesterday so I'm going to try to get my dad on him in the morning. Good luck to the rest of you heading out this week, and lets try to get a few more on the board, cuz it seemed like we were the team to beat this past week!

I know exactly what your talking about. These birds here are quiet too. a few what I like to call courtesy gobbles but thats it. I have tried everything so far. Soft calling, loud calling, very little calling, lots of calling and just about every call I have and just about every call and striker combo I can come up with. They are just very quiet. But it seems every single freaking day I go out I do manage to call in a hen or so. Well I always could bring the ladies running. LOL[8D]

Birds have been very quite here as well.
I did manage to put a tag on a nice one in NY on Sat. Flew down after gobblinga couple of times on the roost. I set up between him in the field. He never answered a call. He just made his way down towards the field w/in shotgun range.
This one weighed 20 & 3/4 lb, had 3/4" spurs, & an 8.5" beard.
Sorry the pics are kindof blurry. Scores 52.75

My brother in law connected in MA this morning on a quite bird too. Weighed 21.5lb, had 1.25" spurs, & a 9" beard.
Haven't seen pics yet.

Well I made it back from Missouri. Did't get one down there but I filled my other Iowa tag on the way down. All tagged out in Iowa. I'm headed back down to Missouri this weekend for the last 4 days of their season so hopefully I can kill 1 or 2 down there, but I'm all done in my home state of Iowa. Here he is. We'll keep the score on the other bird but 22 lbs, 8.5" beard and one 7/8" spur. The other one was broke off.Total score: 47.75I'm headed to the regular turkey forum to post the stories now. PS. I ripped half of his fan out when I went to grab him and he flopped!

Congrats Jepcho!!!! Nice work.

Here is a pic of my Brother in Law's 21.5lb bird from yesterday I had mentioned. This is his little 3 month old daughter with him for her first turkey pic.

Here is a pic of my older daughter with the smaller of the rain soaked birds I shot the year. She had a tulip lolipop in her mouth...

Slept in till 8 today then went for a hunt since there has been no gobbling activity what so ever in my area. Called in a singe hen, but didn't hear or see a gobbler. Talked to my uncle and he did not hear a bird at daylight nor did any of the 3 guys that work with him. But I talked to another guy who said he heard atleast 10 birds and ended up killing a nice one around 9. Maybe things are going to pick up here in the middle of the week.

Congrats jepcho. Another nice Tom!!

I've decided to wait another week before I head back to the farm in KS. for one last go with the bow. My buddy says they are still breeding, and we're guessing in about another week, there's going to be some lonely Toms looking for love, and we hope to get some better action.
