Team 11 Rack Reapers--Check In
#191
Well guys I got it done this morning at 7:57. I got in the tree stand a little later than I wanted. I rattled and grunted and didn't see a thing until about 7:30 when I saw 4 does run out of the CRP about 400 yards away. They ran across the field and disappeared into the timber to the Southwest of me. I texted the guy who got me into bowhunting asking if he was having any luck? After exchanging a few texts I look up to see a big rack at 15 yards behind some trees. He was limping a lot and dragging his left leg. He jumped the fence and continued towards me. He continued behind me as the wind was out of the Northwest the buck made his way downwind of me less than 5 yards when I took the shot straight down.. Single lunged him and watched him take off. Caught up to him and he was still alive and couldn't get up so Put another arrow in him to put him away. Came to find out his left shoulder and leg was broken from being hit by a car this morning. Glad to get my first buck. He Scored 156 6/8 gross and netted 152 2/8.

Well guys all the points I can put up are down. However I still have two more bow tags to fill. My LOT bow doe tag and my statewide anysex bow tag. Going to try to get one of the bucks off my camera to add to the wall with the buck I just got. Hoping for an expensive fall.lol
I hope everyone else is doing fine. You all seemed to have disappeared.

Things were dead in my area until yesterday-the switch came on. Saw 2 Bucks chasing 4 Does this afternoon but 80 yds away for over half hour. I had 6 Does pass under or within 15 yds of my stand but no Bucks following. Got some good Doe pics & some real good video of them right under my 12 foot ladder. I'll be out from noon till dark next 2 days.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around much. Been working a lot, and have been dealing with some family stuff going on. This has been the a really bad year for me as far as time in the field. Our gun season started last weekend, so I was out with the CVA. Saw 2 deer in 3 days. I have tomorrow off, so I will be back out with the CVA for the next 3 days. Looks like rain all weekend, so I will be sitting in one of my blinds. Sunday is the last day for gun season, so next weekend I will have the bow out again for a couple of days. Then our muzzle loader season starts the saturday after Thanksgiving, and runs for 3 weeks. After that, I will be done for the year.

I'll be back at it tomorrow.. Awesome Wed, Thurs & Fri. Bucks chasing & I could have taken shots at 8 Does under 15 yds. I passed on one small Buck at 30yds passing in pursuit of a Doe.
Can't get much closer than 12' UNDER me.

Hey, guys. I just got home a few hours ago from a 12 day hunting excursion to Kentucky and Missouri.
I shot an 8 point Wednesday evening in Carter County, Missouri (Mark Twain National Forest). Since I was hunting alone on public land, am colorblind and the overnight low was supposed to be 23 degrees I waited until Thursday morning (when my brother was supposed to arrive) to look for him.
One nice thing about this trip is that when my brother showed up he was the first person I'd seen in three days. How cool is that?
Anyway, I found him after 20 minutes of looking, and yes I found him myself.
I haven't scored him yet and to be honest, he won't score that high, especially with a broken off left G3. Maybe 100" or 110"? I sent Curtis a pic. Maybe he can guess 'cause I suck at guessing scores. I shoot what I like when I see it.
All I know is that I'm extremely happy to break this curse I've been under when I have my bow in my hands.
I'll post more details and pics later when I'm not on an iMac. I can't believe how tired I am right now. Let's put it this way: I'm going to work tomorrow and I have to get up at 5:00 am and that will be "sleeping in" compared to the past 12 days.

I was at full draw on this guy at 2:30 for about 3 min as he stood in the brush at the 2nd tree at 18 yds (no shot) then walked straight away & came out 65 yds away. Saw nothing else.
Congrats on the Public Mark Twain kill.
