I saw a lone Doe at 2pm & a lone cruising 8 at 2:45pm yesterday at 60 yds. . I've seen 3 Bucks in the last week now (decent size) & ALL have been early afternoon (2-3) AND ALONE. Off till Monday afternoon=family stuff. N.E. Ia. real close to Miss. River.

This guy was under my stand the first morning I didn't hunt it yesterday.

Got one this morning. He had a total of 11 points and scored 144 1/8.

Well gun season starts on Monday here in Ohio. I was planning on taking 2 doe, one with my handgun and the other with shotgun so i might not be adding any more points for our team. I'm glad I was able to take a nice buck with my bow to add to our score. I'll keep ya posted.

Well guys, sorry I've been MIA, between the wedding, hunting trips and swamped with work I have been busy. Long story short, My trips down to central Illinois were a bust. Passed on a few 115" deer and a lot of spikes, 4s, 6s and basket 8's. I had three giants within 40 yards a couple times but they always chose the right trails for them and the rond ones for me. I didn't even kill a doe yet because every doe I had come in had a buck behind her grunting so I passed until I could see the buck and they always turned out to be smaller bucks! I did see a good amount of deer and only had a couple sits where I didn't see a thing.

The good thing is right before I left for my wedding I was able to kill a basket 8 point at my urban spot. Since no one hunts around there and its only a acre and a half bordering a forest preserve I wanted to kill a deer there since it has been 3 years since I killed one one on this spot. He's no giant but he's a buck. I still need to measure him out but I should be able to in the next couple days. I'm sending him off for a Euro mount so right before I pack him up I'll measure him. I'm still looking for a doe as well!
