Team 4 Turkey Fever
#174
Well, headed out at 3;30 am today for my last day of the season. Wind rain no gobbles. Finally at 9 i heard one gobble and could tell it was down in the corner of the feild. So with the nasty weather decided to try and slide down thru the pines to get on em. Crawled thru some thick wet crap for a couple hundred yards and got real close, couldn't hardly see anything and was tryin to get over to a little hole when i heard one start alarm putting. ducked down and spotted a red head!! Not much room to shoot, im soppen wet, its the last day and they're about to take off so wasnt gonna wait around to size him up. I shot and smoked him, ran out into the feild to see about 20 birds scatter. There's at least 3 nice toms on the prop, so now im pretty happy. Got up to the bird and MAN........was i dissapointed!!! Out of all the good birds out there i had to line up the smallest jake of the bunch!!! But he will taste a lot better than my tag and a few points for the team is better than none i guess.
here is his sorry numbers
eastern
13.75 lbs
4 in beard
.25 in spurs (just bumps really)
had the boy hold him so he looks bigger

think Jrbsr is kinda busy so i'll post the score. Thanks guys and good luck!!

Tough week hunting Public for a total of 1 Tom. Positive is, it will take a real big Tom to upgrade.
Kansas Eastern 24# 13oz, Rt Spur 1", Lt Spur 1 1/8, Beard 10 1/2". Total of 67.0625.
Picture of myself with my Buddies 15 year old son, who hunted with me. I still have some tags left, so we'll see how that goes.

Good job to both of you guys. Good to see the points going on the board. Iowa Jaybird, I do most of my hunting on public land, which makes a bird like yours that much sweeter. Good luck on your future hunts.
