good job ryan, i know asking permission can be a lil nerve wrecking. good luck!

my7pointmonster 09-08-2009 07:00 PM

thanks guys and i have some really good news also, I went and spotted the front fields that everyone spots and under one of the big huge electric power things idk they hold the wires up in the air and theyre green they supply whole citys and run wires from coast to coast.... idk, what they are called anyhow, underneath one of them there was a really solid buck probablly like a 100 incher or so. an 8 point and then i went on down the road and saw another buck who was in hard antler thats another 8 pointer about 100 inches or so. (Which for my area is a very solid buck.)

Ryan.

Its a blend of DiCalciumPhosphate, trace minerals and salt. This mineral lick is four years old and the hole they have eaten out is huge.

ohh wow you got quite a few big ones hitting it by the looks of it.... so where did you hang my stand:s2:

Ryan.

MOhunter46 09-09-2009 06:16 AM

Glad you got permission to hunt that land Ryan. Hopefully you'll be sitting behind one of those bucks later on in the year.

my7pointmonster 09-09-2009 04:22 PM

Well I have a problem now, I scouted it today and had a never before encountered problem... I've never hunted bigger open timber before and its throwing me for a loop.... I think if I hunt the side of this ridge that I can look down into the bottom at an apple tree and out into a hidden field then I'll be able to cash in but other than that... I'm having serious trouble.

Ryan.

KCMO Cityboy 09-10-2009 10:04 AM

PJ, I really hope you were joking about having your kids hold a newspaper to shoot through for papertuning. Really. nuff said.
Ryan, not sure how much free time you have before your Oct 3 opener. Sounds like you might already have a decent place selected. I've skipped through some of the messages. Are you placing treestands or using a climber? If you are using a climber, try to pick a few trees in that area so that you can play the wind. The only other option I can think of for you is to cross through the timber areas and hope to find some decent trails, then walk alongside the trail and hope to find a decent cross trail - and hopefully it would be near the edge of the timber to make it easier to access. Go get'em.
I managed to get a couple of treestands hung last Saturday. Just going from tracks in the area, but both locations look promising. One had both a rub and scrape. The rub wasn't massive, but still encouraging. I'll be ready and out there on September 15 - just 5 days away!

my7pointmonster 09-10-2009 10:24 AM

There you go buddy. I found a rub yesterday aswell. And I'm going to probablly use both the climbers I have and the lock on's. And I might have found a jackpot. An apple tree that's in a field that's hidden from the road. Then on the backside of where I'd put my stand there's an oak grove.

I'm gonna hang my trail cam right under the apple tree.

Ryan.

Hey guys, just a little warning that you may not here from me in a while. I'll be finishing up my last minute preparations this week, & next friday I leave for my elk hunt. I'll try and stop in before I go. BUt just in case I don't...good luck to all who's seasons may start before I get back.

MOhunter46 09-12-2009 05:12 AM

my7pointmonster 09-12-2009 09:31 AM

What state are you going to? and good luck!!! hope we see a big bull with you sitting behind it!

I pulled my trail camera I didn't have much faith in the spot where I hung it, all I got was a bunch of pictures of myself and a picture of a does butt and a raccoon.

I'm going to go hang it again however. This time in a much better spot.

Ryan.

my7pointmonster 09-12-2009 01:41 PM

Well boys, My trail camera is now hung and I'm planning on pulling it on Wednesday morning hopefully no one takes it and I hope I don't get too anxious and end up pulling it on like....... monday night...... after work.......

On a side note, I put that we still are needing one more member on the MIA section.

Ryan.

MOhunter46 09-13-2009 05:18 PM

I had been practicing with bhs for a while now and all of a sudden, they are flying like crap. But im getting some help and hopefully ill get it figured out. Man i feel like and idiot.

reds10ss 09-13-2009 07:56 PM

i use slick trick mags too, mine are flying great. well bro i hope u get it figured out and best of luck

my7pointmonster 09-13-2009 08:28 PM

Wayne,
Its possable that you've bent the ferrul on your broadheads. Go spin test them and see about getting a new pack. Its just a possability that through the constant shooting and pulling they've gotten bent and inspect your nocks for wear aswell as the arrow shaft and vanes. If your nocks are too badly worn then you'll have flying problems believe that or not. Just some suggestions. How long until your season starts bud?

Ryan.

P.s. On a side note I posted about getting our alt for our replacemnt double entry. I saw 2 shooters tonight while spotting on the newly attained property.

MOhunter46 09-14-2009 07:36 AM

Well i spun all my arrows with all my broadheads and they all spin true. But they all fly like crap. I moved my rest all around and nothing seemed to improve it. I switched to my maximas and they fly like darts. Maybe i got a bad batch of fmjs? And its funny how i just now noticed it. I thought they were flying good before but i guess not. And i pretty sure im not torquing the bow or any thing like that. So i got the maximas sighted in and ready to go for in the morning. Wish me luck!!

KCMO Cityboy 09-14-2009 09:33 AM

Hey Rybo, Good luck on the elk. We will want to hear all about it.
Wayne, is there any consistancy or grouping of the broadheads? Or are they just all over the place? Glad that the Maxima's are working. Are we the only lucky ones that get to hunt tomorrow?
Anyone else besides Wayne and me out in the field tomorrow? The weather here is looking decent, not cool, but at least it's not a heat wave. The slight breeze tomorrow looks to be in favor of my tree stand set-ups.

my7pointmonster 09-14-2009 10:07 AM

October 3 for this dude. I'm looking forward to tonight however. I setup my trailcamera and last nite I spotted the field its on and there was 2 shooters in the field. Good luck tomorrow guys. And hopefully we'll have our replacement soon. Let us know how your making out.

Ryan.

The fmjs group with my fps. I can put them in the same hole every time they just spiral as they fly toward the target. Im still not sure what the deal. But i got the maximas fletched up and ready to roll. I cant wait for morning!!

reds10ss 09-14-2009 01:41 PM

good luck to all u guys who are hunting tomorrow

MOhunter46 09-14-2009 02:55 PM

Well i just checked the weather and it looks like rain all day tomorrow and all morning Wednesday.:s6: So it looks like ill be sleeping in in the morning. Maybe it will breakup i can get in the woods, who knows???

my7pointmonster 09-14-2009 03:21 PM

I'm not a very happy camper.

Let me first start off by saying I HATE! HATE HATE HATE!!!! My cuddieback's on/off system. I left my camera on standby for 2 days. I can tell for a fact deer walked past it because theres prints in my boot prints in front of it. To say the least I am very dissatisfied with my cuddieback. You have to go through a menu to get the thing to be on the regular camera mode.... And guess what sometimes it dosent work right and you'll leave it either on test mode or Standby.... I left it on standby. So it sat there and did nothing. I dont like it and I want something else. something where it says "Camera On Flip this switch" Anyhow!

Rant over.

I now know why not a lot of people hunt this property. The woods in the nearby area aren't included in the property. So you have to find a way to get to your stand without bumping a bunch of deer while you walk through the fields in the early morning where they hangout. Its still gonna be prime for the rut.

I found a dead fawn also, foot got caught in the fence and it just dangled there was really weird how it got caught.

Ryan.

MOhunter46 09-15-2009 06:27 AM

What a terrible morning. Let me just say first off that i hate my summit climber so far. I get to the tree and start to climb. I get half way up and the darn thing slips, not very far but enough the scare the heck out of me. Well i get up to where i want to be and the dang bungee and holds the back rest on the tree keap slipping every time i sat down and i couldnt get comfortable. So i moved the seat straps around and got it where i just used the tree as a backrest, works pretty good now. Well with all this movement, of course i didnt see a deer. And then to top it off, i was messing around with my camera and dropped it. I called it a morning after that. Luckily my camera still works. Oh well, ill be out this PM, if the wind stays like it is now i have a killer spot ill go to. It can only get better from now on, right?

my7pointmonster 09-15-2009 09:26 AM

No i wish. I did see two 1.5 year old bucks, a spike and a lil 3 pt lol. Also saw 3 does. They were all runnin around chasin each other, pretty neat to watch. One of the does looked to be mature and i was gonna arrow her but she only made it to 50 yards before going back into the brush. Cool sit overall and ill be out this PM again.

my7pointmonster 09-16-2009 06:02 AM

Great to hear. Atleast you saw deer. I'd love to see 1 deer everytime I go out. The good and bad news is I checked my camera again and found that it wasn't on.... Again. So I set it in a new location and made damn sure it was on. I made it take a picture of me. I'll pull it today and check it before I leave. For maryland.

Ryan.

MOhunter46 09-16-2009 05:45 PM
