Thanks Clay.

I think tomorrow I'm going to hunt Just because I can. I'm going to go behind my house where I had the guy pull the gun on me for as long as I can stand it. It's gonna be a cold one tomorrow. Hopefully I'll see a buck.... I have no idea what time it even gets light anymore.... lol. I'm planning to shoot whatever I see!!!! **** on it.

Wish me luck hopefully we'll get some insurance points.

Ryan.

well, my opportunity at a buck got foiled. Hunted from 9 til 2:30 and was heading home when i spotted the buck i was trying for so i turned around and tried to get set up on him. he was heading to the edge of a crp field where i saw him with about 15 other deer this morning. so i crawl on my hands an knees in the hard CRUNCHY snow and get into a pretty good position. I started seeing deer immediately some were bedded and some were feeding. After an hour or so i see the buck with another smaller 8 they were heading right to me when a fawn came out in front of them and they took into hot pursuit. they went through the crp behind me where i had no shot at all in the tall grass, uhhg. I still have next weekend though!

That's one heck of an experience however! how big is he? do you think he'll score? do you have any pictures of your doe you care to share?

Ryan.

pjhunts 01-04-2010 02:56 PM

sorry, no pics of the doe. after you shoot so many of them there's no need in memorializing all of them, lol. The buck was in the 130 range as an 8. Not what i hoped for but at this stage of the season i'd have gladly taken him. Anytime you can take a buck in late season, it's always a trophy no matter what his score is.

reds10ss 01-05-2010 03:45 PM

hey guys posted up somepics from trail cam this year...they are at the the trailcamera forum..check em out

pjhunts 01-10-2010 04:18 PM

Yo PJ,

I've been hiking and setting up trail cameras to see whats left over for next year. Scouted one new spot and placed a trail camera. Me and a freind have 5 trail cameras out so far. Just bought one of those Bushnell trophy cams. Got one really nice buck so far on camera. Should be in the 130's next year. Also got a small eight and six. Having fun, looks like were getting pretty close to winning this thing. We should look at getting shirts made up with the Team 24 Bone mafia logo on them if we win this thing.

Ryan,

Hope school goes well for you. Some beautiful areas up their.

Dave

rybohunter 01-12-2010 01:31 PM

I may head out one final time this weekend. Either stay local and doe hunt with the shotgun or drive over to Ohio for one last bowhunt??? Not sure which I'll do yet.

my7pointmonster 01-12-2010 02:28 PM

I'd go to ohio if I could afford it and everything like that, if you've got it. Use it.

Ryan.

MOhunter46 01-13-2010 06:23 AM

Hey guys, i went out last night and smoked a doe........... with the front end of my truck. Luckily it only broke the blinker light and i can get one for $20. I went back to see, i thought that just maybe that the hit didn't kill her and i was just going to cut her throut if she was suffering but i couldnt find her. Surely she didnt survive but who know. Anyway, just thought id share my fun expirence i had last night.

my7pointmonster 01-13-2010 10:16 AM

Hahaha. Good story. I smacked one with the fender on my ranger was about a 140 class buck. I swirved not to hit it as I was going 70-80 mph I didn't feel like getting air bagged to end that days hunt.

Ryan.

reds10ss 01-13-2010 04:58 PM

yea we are getting close to winning this thing...pretty cool..

pjhunts 01-16-2010 09:26 AM

hey dave, trail cams are a blast, it's like x-mas morning every time you go check it. I have 3 so far. If you you want a real bargain on one, check out the stealth cam ir's. Great camera for only 150, comes with 2 sd cards as well. Batteries last good and they are just as fast as my cuddebacks, i also think the nighttime pics are better quality too. are you allowed to put out bait there?, if so a pile of corn will usually pull in a lot of the local herd to pose for the camera. The t-shirt idea would be cool.
Ryan, if you are interested in construction, you might look into joining a union. I am a union carpenter for 13 yrs now. If you're not afraid of heights, try scaffold building, it's pretty fun(like playing on the monkey bars) and it pays really good with a good amount of overtime too. I've been doing that for the last 5 years in an oil refinery.

reds10ss 01-16-2010 03:05 PM

hey guys whats been going on? just curious to know what everyone does for a living? im a auto painter been doing for 8 years now. oh by the way i will be hunting next weekend...my cousin called me up and wants to get out one last time...idk if any bucks with head-gear will be running around but at least i will get out one last time...

dliz 01-17-2010 02:36 PM

Mike,

Good luck hunting when you go out. It hard this time of the year but if you get one it would be a real trophy.

PJ,

I agree with you ever time I pull a trail camera card I can't wait to see whats on it. Like you said its almost like christmas. My wife says I have an addiction. Yesterday i received a good gift, the buck we were hoping would make it through the season did. He not huge probably 110 but he is very young and has great potential. He is an 11 pointer. 7x4 with two stickers. Also, I do own 2 stealth 540 IR cameras. They have worked great for me for the price. Got them on sale last Feb. for $99 at cabelas.

Dave

rybohunter 01-18-2010 02:14 PM

I chose to stay local, and ended up shooting another doe.:guiness:
But I missed the 2nd one right after that, :rolleye0011: :s6: which would have tagged me out for the year, and made for the most deer I've shot in one season. I have one more weekend. We'll see how the weather is & maybe go out one more time.

When is the fat lady going to sing?

my7pointmonster 01-18-2010 02:40 PM

Sooooooooo....... I had to get a shot for my school...... well. I went in to get one shot. ONE. the lady talked me into getting 5..... SO since last wednesday I have been sicker than a dog and Its not been a good weekend either friday/saturday I laid in bed (friday night into saturday all day) so. It turns out It may be shingles. Im kinda freaking out because I dont want it to be anything to be honest. It seems to fit the bill however and I'm not a very happy camper right now I shouldnt have let that nurse talk me into getting all those freakin shots at once. what a freakin week this has been!!!!!!! sorry for venting I just dont know how to act about all this tomorrow hopefully I'll find out what it is for sure.

Ryan.

pjhunts 01-18-2010 03:15 PM

wow, a 110" 11 pter will bLOW up in a few years, sounds like a really good prospect. we had one like that here a few years ago. He was 1.5 yrs old and had 18 scorable points with 2 additional pts broken off. I passed on him at 10 feet and then he got shot in gun season 4 days later. I was really bummed but what do you do?

rybohunter 01-24-2010 06:10 AM

Our season is officially closed. I finished up with one last doe, making my best season ever for total number of deer shot....7.

Any of you guys go look for sheds? I was out yesterday and found a small matched set. But just the other day I saw 2 bucks with full racks.

MOhunter46 01-24-2010 06:43 AM

7 deer rybo, thats impressive, congrats on a great season! I usually do a little shed hunting but i never find any, in fact ive only found one in my life and i found it in the middle of october lol. I need to go pull some stands so ill probably look some then.

my7pointmonster 01-24-2010 06:46 AM

Is it bad that you harvested more deer than what I saw lol. Nah congrats rybo. You had one heck of a season by the sounds of things. Is the fat lady about to sing? Anyone know? If someones a math whiz and has a a lot of free time we can figure out if its over yet or not.

Ryan.

MOhunter46 01-24-2010 06:53 AM

I looked at the rules and the official end of the contest is Feb 15th. So we got about 22 days before we're crowned champs!

my7pointmonster 01-27-2010 10:51 AM

Hows everyone doing? Anyone seeing anything that made it through the season? Anyone shed hunting at all?

Ryan.

reds10ss 01-27-2010 06:57 PM

nothing to report here, im eating a tag sandwhich this year...ive had fun and learned alot which is always good cause i dont think we will ever be as smart as deer. im giving a few weeks before i look for sheds...ive actually had alot of success find sheds at parks and stuff...

my7pointmonster 01-27-2010 07:28 PM

I'm eating Multiple-state tag soup. I didn't score in Maryland and I didn't score in PA!!! that's just how it goes however. I had a fun season I would like to have hunted more with my friends than by myself but that's just not how the cards fell.

Ryan.

MOhunter46 01-28-2010 06:37 AM

Not doin so good here guys, my grampa passed away tuesday night. He had cancer for over a year. I was really close to him, he lived right next door so i talked to him everyday and he was my huntin partner. But i guess its all for the best, cause like my dad said, "grampas not suffering today". Anyway thats whats goin on at my end of the world, hope everyones doin well.

KCMO Cityboy 01-28-2010 09:21 AM

Wayne,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family over your very close loss. Your dad is right, and your grampa will be with you on all your future hunts - trust me. You both will be in my prayers.
-clay

MOhunter46 01-28-2010 09:25 AM

Thanks Clay, i appreciate it.

dliz 01-28-2010 09:27 AM

Wayne,

Sorry to hear about you're grampa passing away. I know its hard mentally when your very close to someone like that. I lost my Dad about 1 1/2 ago. I was very close to him and think about him all the time. He was 74 and also died of cancer. I do consider myself lucky because we had a year with him after he was diagnosed. In that time, I had the opportunity to thank him for being my father. We had alot of good talks. I think about him alot but what makes me feel better is always thinking about the good times we had together. To me life is all about family and friends. I feel lucky because of this. Wayne, just remember the good times you had with your grampa, it will always bring a smile to your face. My prayers are with you.

Dave

MOhunter46 01-28-2010 09:39 AM

No doubt Dave, in fact just before you posted that i was thinking about the last turkey hunt we had. A bird came in and i shot and wounded it, he shot and missed, and then i shot and it went down. We got up to do get it, got 10 yards from it and it got up and started to run. I bet between me and him we shot 10 shots, one right after another at that bird and never hit him. We finally got him and shooting that many times might have not been the best thing to do but thinking back to that hunt now it kinda funny to think about and brings back good memories.

my7pointmonster 01-28-2010 11:58 AM

Wayne, I'm sorry buddy that's the worst, your dad's right however. Prayers with you for sure.

Ryan.

reds10ss 01-28-2010 04:24 PM

wayne,

MOhunter46 01-29-2010 06:12 AM

Thanks guys

rybohunter 01-30-2010 04:27 AM

Wayne,
Real sorry to hear of your loss. My deepest sympathy to you & your family.
-Ryan

pjhunts 01-31-2010 03:33 PM

Well said Dave, a death in the family is always tough especially when it's someone you are really close too. Sorry for your loss wayne. We've been dealing with the same stuff here. My mom has been battling cancer for 3 years now, and she just got the news last week that it is back in her lungs really bad. she goes to St. louis on tuesday to see what they are going to do, doesn't sound to optimistic though. They have exhausted all forms of kemo. My uncle collapsed in church today as well.
He's in his 80's and has epillepsy so it's hard to say what's going to happen with him. It's always something.
On a brighter note, i saw a group of 14 bucks tonite, and 4 of them were really nice. there were a couple that had dropped on antler too. I also got a lot of trail pics this week of bucks, 178 in one spot, and several of them were pics of them fighting/sparring, pretty cool.
