Glad to see everyone is gonna try and get out this weekend. We are supposed to have a high temp. in the 50's on saturday with a low of 39 on sunday morning!

Great weekend to hunt, and hopefully some of the deer are back on their feet after this nasty warm, dry weather we have had the past few weeks.

I am so excited!!!! Maybe a little too excited lol

It is quiet in here - hopefully the quiet before the storm of bone piling up on the ground!

Good luck everyone!

Well, at least the weather was good!

I was out 3 different times over the weekend and saw a grand total of 0 deer.

Its too bad I cant hit a turkey in the area I am hunting beacuse there was an abundance of them this weekend.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

Rick

Rick-It stinks that you didn't see any deer this weekend. When it goes like that it can make for some long sits in the stand. At least you got to watch the turkeys.

I got home last night at 7:00 from a weekend of work [:'(]. I was getting text messages all weekend from my buddies that were hunting our lease. They are starting to see a few bucks and they managed to whack a couple of does. I am heading out this afternoon, hopefully I'll have a reason to post some pics.

I hope the rest of had a good weekend.

BAck from an eventfull weekend. Saturday morning started off with movement at 7:30. What looked like a doe came walking down the same path as the buck from earlier[:@]. Then I noticed this was a lone deer....a BB? It stopped broadside at 5 yds and relieved itself in front of my stand, turned and licked it's hind leg - No Buttons! Clicked on the release and never had a clear shot after that, she walked behind branches out of site. About 9 am I detect movement down the hill on the left. One, two, three, four does coming right up the road which is about 10 yds to my left. They all ( or so I thought) passed behind a couple trees obstructing the view so I stood up and got ready. When they passed they were at about 45 yards, no shot.

Came out for the morning around 10 and helped my hunting partner track down a doe he shot and was back on stand by 2:30. Nothing moving in the afternoon, then as soon as the sun dipped below the treeline, here comessomething crunching leaves down the hill. Before I see him he's on top of me, 15 yards out from the trail the rest of the deer have been using - 20 yards out. I had to decide real quick if he was a shooter, counted 8 points and a huge body - yep. Grabbed the bow off the hook, clicked on the release and he stopped broadside @ 20, behind a bent over tree and I have to stand up. I start to draw as I ease up and creeeaaakk, the stand shifts and he looks dead at me. It seemed like an eternity as I avoided his eyes but was probably only 2-3 seconds, after which he bounded off through the woods.

Was disappointing but what a day! Every sit in that stand has produced sightings, almost all within bow range.

wallhnger, that has happened to me a few time too, it is dissapointing for sure....Best of luck next time!!!!

Guys, I am done hunting till about mid November as it is time to head back to Mexico for some work. I had good weather last week but the moon was killing me and I didn't get out there mid day as the temps were still in the high 80's. Again saw a couple deer but not the shooters I am looking for....Best of luck to all of you in the coming weeks...I will be back at work and on the computer quite a bit more, so keep the stories coming as I will be needing some good stories to keep my mind off the fact that I won't be able to hunt.....

Rick - 0 deer just bites! - sorry about that for you, glad you at least had some featherd friends to break up some of the time.

wallhangr - I hate those creeks! It is truly amazing how many incredible small things can and often do go ary! - I guess that is part of what makes it so sweet when everything does go right. It does sound like you have dialed in the go to stand! - best of luck next outing!!

Swing and a miss tonight!

It was a text book case of counting your chickens before they're hatched. I had two mature does working they're way towards me right at last light. As they passed under a branch of the tree I was sitting in, I readied myself for the shot. When the lead doe stepped in to my shooting lane at 15 yds. I gave a quiet whistle to get her to stop. She came to a halt giving me a perfectly broadside shot. I was already making plans to fire up the grill while I was easing the recurve back to full draw. I am sure the look on my face was priceless as the arrow passed harmlessly under her chest. I had to laugh when she and her buddy bounded off and stopped to alarm blow for a good while before leaving the area. Instead of fresh grilled tenderloins I am sitting here enjoying a large slice of humble pie.

I am heading to a different area tomorrow morning and hopefully the fresh taste of that pie in my mouth will help me to focus, focus, focus, should I get a shot at redemption .

Good luck out there teammates! I also saw a couple of nice bucks out in a bean field tonight about 300 yds. from my stand. It should be starting to get close to the magic time.
