Well guys my opening day hunt this evening didn't quite go as planned. I was sitting in my stand in the neighborhood and about 5:30 I hear a loud crashing noise come from where I am hopeing the deer are bedded. I turn to look that direction and see 2 deer running my direction. They flew thru my shooting lane airborn going 9,000 miles per hour. A minute later a black lab comes sniffing down their trail. Needless to say I was pissed

Hunted last night and it was a good start to the 08' season.
No deer down but I had 2 twin 8 pointers walk a small ridge to the west of me about 50 yards away. For a second they looked like they were going to walk my way, but 1 buck started to go north and the other 1 followed him. 15 yards closer and I would have had one of them.
Perfect night for bowhunting too. No winds, 55 degrees, and partly cloudy. Beautiful night to be out.

I just got back from my property in IL. Went to check on damage from the rain and to check my trail cams,
I got a pic of what looks to be a monster. If his rack matches his body, he is a real STUD. I got this pic 20 feet from a fresh scrape. I now have the cam on the scrape, hoping to get more pics of this guy.

He's definitly mature. Sway back, pot belly, and big chest. Looks like he'll have a good rack on him too. Good luck John,I hope you get him. You mentioned this pic was near a fresh scrape. Are you finding many scrapes, rubs, etc?

I took a 4 wheeler ride around my fields and found 1 and I found 1 on a road thru my woods.
I have a trail cam on both of them now.
Haven't really been in the woods lately. Gonna stay out till I start hunting. I did see 2 trees along the field edge a little tore up.
