RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Hey guys, checking in. I figure as we all check in, we can tell a little about each other. I am 39 living in North Carolina, full time sign maker, part time taxidermist. Hunting blind this year, no trail cameras, no nothing. I have been using technology too much over the past few years and haven't benefited, so this year Iam going blind. Have some good properties, that I have been passing some good little bucks on, so maybe this year will be the year. Good to be on ya'lls team and let's hear about you.

RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Checking in from Louisiana here. I am 40, living in Louisiana. Full time Cell Site Field Operations Tech. I am definately looking forward to my first bow-kill buck this season. This is only my 3rd season so I am still kinda green. I do have property with good buck potential, so we will see. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed. Good to be on Team 5 with you guys. Here's hoping everyone has a safe and prosperous season.

Hey guys checking in from nebraska, I am a 22 year old railroader, I live in central nebraska and have lived in the same town all my life, The ground I hunt is looking promising this year. Last year was my first bow kill after hunting 8 years with a bow. I am confident that I can put up some good numbers this year if I see the right buck. Nice to meet everyone.

RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Checking in from Wisconsin. First year in this contest and I'm hoping to contribute mightily. Been practicing QDM for 8 years now and saw a beauty last year I've got my sights on. Got my trail cameras out and will be checking them this coming weekend as I'm heading up to NW Wisconsin to put out donuts for the upcoming bear season. Do we get points for a bear kill ;)? Been saving up my vacation so I'm ready to roll.

RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Hey guys,
I'm Steven from Erie, PA. I'm 19 (20 in October) and a Civil Enginnering student at the University of New Hampshire. I will be hunting both PA and NH, but I think PA will only be with my flintlock after Christmas. NH's season starts September 15th and runs through December 15th, so I'm hoping to spend A LOT of time in the woods after classes and on the weekends. I don't have any 'big' prospects for the season, but I'm hoping I can find a nice bit of antler for my second archery buck. Steven |
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
We need the 4 remaining MIA's to show up and then we can pick team captain. We can give these guys a little time but then we are gonna have to find replacements, so if you know any of them, please have them fall in.
When do your seasons start? Mine Sept 13th |
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Hi guys. My name is Rob and i am 28 years oldfrom NE Ohio. I work in distribution for Coca-Cola and have access to some great hunting properties. The season here starts on September 26. My job allows me to get doneearly enough to get a lot of evening hunts in. I am also part of a bowhunting video production team so I usually have another guy in the tree with me, but my hunting time gets split in half. I wish you all the best of luck.....and all the other teams the worst of it.:D

RE: Official Team 5 Thread
W9ARcher here (formerly W9AR). I sent Rob a PM to try and get my name corrected. Didn't realize I had two logins until the admins pointed it out and killed off W9AR when I signed up for this contest.
I'm Gerry, 49 years old and I hunt in NW Wisconsin near Rice Lake. I'm shooting a Mathews SQ2 with Carbon Express Maximum Hunter arrows tipped with 85gr Thunderheads. This is about my 12th year bow hunting with last year being a banner year with 4 bow kills and 6 gun kills. A couple of ok 8 pointers were put in the freezer and a lot of smaller bucks were left for this year. I hunt about 800 acreas of private land with 12 other folks during gun season but it's only me and a farmer friend that bow hunt. This coming year I'm introducing bowhunting to 6 boy scouts and a couple of their fathers over Halloween so I have 6 weeks to get the monster before I share the great sport of archery with a new set of youth. Just had my final league golf outing for the year tonight so it's time to put the clubs in the attic and get serious about zeroing in the bow. |
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Mike,
Where are you attending college? My son starts at UW Eau Claire in a week. Just curious if you hunt in the NW Wisconsin area. You could help me drag outthe bear I'm planning on taking the first week of September ;)I've already told my son to keep his cell phone handy. Gerry |
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Bowfish - I shoot a Bowtech Allegiance w/ Thunderhead 125's.
Is the only one missing is PArookie? Or did I miss his post? This is my 3rd year in the contest. One thing that happens, people check in and that's the last we hear from them. Please keep posting at least weekly, keep us informed to what is going on in your season. I think we have a pretty good team and look forward to the upcoming season. |

RE: Official Team 5 Thread
I think Rick would be a good team captain, provided he accepts. And with a captain's name like that maybe we should look into one of Rick James' songs for a name.
I do like Bustin' Blades and Archery Assassins. Let's give it a few days and see what we can come up with. I was thinking about "Adrenalin Assassins" or something with the initials fps, just throwing ideas out there. How about "Team Shoulder Shock"?? I also thought "Team Wobble Falls" because they wobble then fall. "Team Mule Kick"? |
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
If you guys think I'd be a good captain, I'd be happy to help.
Now we need a team name - [8D] Let's take suggestions on a team name until the end of this weekend and give everyone a chance to provide feedback on that, and then let's select something on Monday. Sound like a plan? |
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Gerry
I am going into my third year at Stevens Point. I do hunt Douglas county for gun hunting and I make it up there for a couple weekends of the bow season. I also have a bear tag for this year but I am hunting zone c. My bear baits are looking good but the acorns are falling rapidly down here. I hope my baits don't go dry right before the season. |
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
How about team DOUBLE WIDE?
|
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Hey guys I think rick would work well as a captain, I like your ideas for names there nctaxi,
"Adrenalin Assassins" "Shoulder Shock" |
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
SO has anyone heard from rookiebowhuntr_PA yet... Time to start coming up with some ideas for a name.
|
RE: Official Team 5 Thread
Bowfishing Addiction,
Good luck on your bear hunt. I too am hunting zone C. I have property on both sides of the line between A and C so I applied for C so as not to wait so long between tags. Acorns falling can be a deterent but I've found feeding them donuts seems to win over ever year. The locals keep telling me the bears stop hitting the bait but if you had a choice between acorns and donuts, donuts win every time. If I score openning week, I'll have about 8 five gallon buckets of compacted donuts if you're still in need of filling your tag. I'll keep in touch the weekend after Labor Day. I'll be mulling over team names this weekend while I'm up baiting bears, putting out deer stands, and checking my scouting cameras. The buck growth should be just about peaked out now with them about to loose their velvet in a couple of weeks. Gerry |
