I have to agree. Who shoots deer in the shoulder with a bow anyway? Oh well.

I had a cool idea for "The James Gang" avatar. We could have all took a pic with our bows at our side like we were ready to draw down (old west style), and then edited them together so we looked like an old west gang in the street getting ready for a gun-fight. Ha Ha, I can dream huh?

We might have another avatar coming in the next couple days, I pm'd them and they said they had a couple in front of us but they would get to it as soon as possible.

Hey guys, just letting you know I'll be leaving for school in the morning, so I may not be around too much for the next week or so while I get settled in. My season starts the 15th, so I'll be in touch before then. Good luck to anyone who starts before then.

Hey all,
I am sorry I have been so absent from the boards. I just graduate last wednesday from Waynesburg University. I was working full-time and going to school full time. It was an 18 month accelarated program that kept me very busy. Saturday was my party and I have just been so busy. Well I am 27 years old and have been married to the best wife ever for going on 6 years in december.

I will be hunting Pittsburgh,PA and have a few spots picked out. Last year I saw some nice bucks and I hope that they are still there. I have not had much time to scout, but plan on getting out there next weekend.

I will be hunting with a reflex highlander, carbon express arrows and 100 gr slick trick heads. This is also my third year hunting with a bow and hopefully I will be able to put a deer down. I have killed some small game animals but no deer yet. Hopefully I can contribute to the team this year.

I love the team name!!!!
Looks like a great team! Seems like we have quite a few PA hunters.

well boys i seen some of the biggest mulies I have ever saw in my life. There were three of them and I have been filming them for about a month now. There are three of them that will break the 150 inch mark. The small one is a nice 22 inch wide 5x5 that I would say is a 3.5 year old, The second one is a 26 inch wide 4x4 that is amazingly tall and massive, Then there is the 25 inch wide 5x5 that is just as tall as the 4 and has more mass. The older bucks have got to go at least 165. Anyway just thought I let you guyz know what I have been seeing.

Hey guys. Just checking in before the storm hits. I may be out of pocket for the next week or so. Just depends on how bad it gets. Prayers are appreciated.

I got 3 of my main stands hung yesterday in 95deg heat. I am whipped. Can not wait for some cooler weather. Anyway, where is the Avatar? I wish I had the talent to make it. Let's get one going from someone.

Later, LT

hey guys I was just wondering how everyone is doing, I know a couple people have school starting and rick james has been remodeling a house. The temp is dropping here in the midwest and the trees are starting to change colors. Good luck to everyone.

stick - I think everyone is busy trying to get everything done before season opens. At least that's my excuse. Trying ot get my house built and finish some taxidermy work, working on food plots, son's football, etc. I wish the temps would drop more here, supposed to be 90 today and tomorrow. Then Hurricane Something is supposed to hit early Sat morning. Ye Haw!

10 days!!

I'm not sure how I'm going to hunt the heat from the beginning, but at least I can be out there. Early on I plan on doing a bit of still type hunting to just get to know the area better and try to find the hot spots. Once it cools down a bit, I'll be hitting the woods hard.

RE: Official Team Shoulder Shock Thread (5)

tonight My brother and I went out scouting and all we saw were mulies. We saw a nice 5x5 that needs another year maybe 130, Then we saw all of the big mulies at 200 yards. The biggest we think is now a 6x6 and not a 5 like i thought at first. I think I will hunt the mulies for about a month then I will switch to whitetail and hunt the river area.

Well everyone, I managed to "not" get blown away by Gustav. Been working on a lot of power fails and Cell site issues the last few days. We still have a ways to go. Thank God I live about 250 miles north of where it made landfall.

Anyway, time to start sharpening the broadheads and washing the clothes. 3 weeks and 6 days and I will be in a treestand the good Lord willing.

Back after a week of Bear Hunting. Actually season only lasted 4hours for me as I dropped one on openning day. Been spending the rest of the time processing the meat and hide. I can't wait to get it scored. It weighed in at 380 lbs and a localbearguide thinks it shouldmake the book.

Nice Avatar, great work!

Now on to deer season. Season starts here in 1 week but I think I better take a break from hunting to get back in favor with the family. Then again, they all love bear meat.

Later, Gerry

Congrats on the bear Gerry!! Any pics?

Season opens on Monday for me, but the forecast says lots and lots of rain, so I may be holding off for a bit. I guess it will depend on how much homework I have to do.

I got my bear too. Got her saturday night. Sent a muzzy from the hoyt and she tipped over within 40 yards. Not a monster but she went about 225 or so. I couldn't be any more happy even if I got a 500 pounder. My baits stopped getting hit 3 days before the season and this was the only bear i saw. I watched her for over an hour before she made it to the bait. She decided to climb up the tree with me too. She made it up about 10 feet and I pulled the pistol and thought I was going to have to take her with that

Congrats guys. My season is looking better, gained some new ground and one piece that I thought I had lost. My sons bow is back from limb change, upped his poundage. He's shooting great and looking forward to whacking one. My season comes in this coming Saturday. Good luck to all and please make sure that you keep checking in, even just a hey, at least we know that you're still in.

Bowfishing Addiction, congrats on your bear as well! Any pics of it?

I would absolutely love to go bear hunting sometime and I'm hoping that I may find a way to do it while going to school in NH. I went twice in PA with a rifle, but those odds aren't very good at all.

Contrats Bowfishing Addictionon a great bear hunt. Any bear one chooses to harvest is a trophy. Just ask my son who got this first bear last year that weighed in at just over 100 lbs.

Nice job defending yourself. I think I'll try my next bear hunt with my bow but I'll take your lead and pick up a pistol for comfort.

I do have some pics I will just have to figure out how to get them on here. Our bow season opens the saturday. The hoyt had its first taste of huntingfor theyear with the bear and is itching for more. Other than that I have been out shooting geese everyday but come this weekend til the end of bow season I will be in a tree stand every chance I get

My season opened with 90 degree temps and me with a cold.[:@] Then just to add icing to the cake, my starter went out in my truck[:@][:@]
But a cold front has moved in and temps are in the 70's, so I may try and get out one evening this week. Good luck and congrats to our team members that have already scored, at least on bears.

Finally got around to figuring out how to post pictures so here goes. This is the bear two days before season coming in for some donuts:

Here's the resulting bear harvested. Was too heavy to move around for a better picture so this is the best one I've got without a lot of blood:

Sort of hard to size up so here's a final picture with my trusty baiting companion Luke. He stayed around for the photo and then disappeared back a quarter mile to the vehicle. Didn't want anything to do with the bear.

Now I'm ready for deer season since the bears finally in the freezer.

Gerry
