Default Need a Team Captain Vote. Falsified Entry?

For the integrity of the contest, I'm unsure what to do and I trust you guys as team captains.

Don't know anyway else to do this. I've temporarily disqualified a buck from the contest. It was brought to my attention by a very reputable member that a buck was definately killed by a rifle only because of the characteristics of the wound. The entry by lethalconnection is the one I'm refering to. It was pointed out to me that this was clearly the characteristics of a rifle head shot buck with the buldged eye etc...

I get this story from the team thread.

Hit him right in the spine below the skull. He dropped in his tracks.
So why is the eye popping out?

Then I get this from a PM.

Hey

So i got the message from Greg about the buck i entered and about the photo of me with the gun.

Well here is the explanation. In the morning we hunted elk and in that certain area we hunt the elk we can use our rifles and we have found elk hunting is always better in the morning and deer in the evening and the area we hunt deer isnt to far from where we hunt elk and we can only use bow's in that area. So we decided to do a morning hunt for elk and an evening for deer. And the day before my buddy was buggin me that i would probably shot a deer in the rifle area even though that tag is already filled. So all i did was got a photo with me and the rifle just to jerk my buddys chain a lil, so all that photo is just a big joke. And if you did realize that its eye is poppin out of its head it is because in able to get it too a truck we had to lift the deer over some railroad tracks and my buddys daughter was holding the head up but just as we were goin over she dropped the head and it smacked right into the railroad track and broke its orbital bone and popped its eye.

Sorry for the whole inconvenice over a stupid joke photo.

Russ
And this.
I will however not admit that i shot it with a rifle cause i did indeed get that deer with my bow but as i said before if it is going to cause alot of grief then remove it.
And the series of photos that point out to me that the deer was shot with a rifle and then a bow layed across it's chest for the contest. If that's what you see, we cannot accept it.

Please PM me with your vote. I'd make it a poll but I know we'd get more than just the captains voting. If your not the captain of your team, please contact your team captain to let him know I need his/her help.

Again, the pictures as I found them.

Okay, that's your defense, now let the team captains voice there opinion. That's what team captains are for. I'm not making the ruling, if the captains say allow it, it stays. I'm just trying to keep the integrity of the contest intact. I've shown this to some reputable members and they are unsure as well and thought a team captain vote is the only way to make a ruling.

Rob,
I'm not sure if you want us to respond but I'm here and just saw this........

A couple things jump out at me right away.

1. The first series of pictures is, to my eyes, obviously "In the field" and appears to bemore than likelywhere the animal droppedand the kid has a rifle laying across it. You can also see blood sprayed in the snowin front ofthe buck's headon the same angle a bullet would have exited. IMO That is where the animal fell and died.

2. Multiple pictures with a rifle again "In the field" but only one cursory picture with a bow laying across theanimal back at the road?

3. Lack of "Bowhunting" clothes?

4. The trauma doesn't match a "spine shot below the skull". The eye popped out "When a girl dropped it on the railroad tracks?" You can clearly see the damage to the deer's eyeball in the first couple pictures BEFOREthe animal appears to have beenmoved.
Also now that I think of it, how would you possibly hit a deer's head off a railroad track with enough force to "Break his orbital bone" and knock his eye out, WITHOUT BUSTING THE RACK sticking out to the side protecting it? I can't even picture how that's possible if you were TRYING to knock his eye out.

I think the fact that the animal is laying there for everyone to see with multiple rifle pictureswhere it appears to have droppedsays all that you need to see? AndIMO (I'm no doctor or veterinarian) but it would take something like the high velocity of a rifle bullet to do that damage....eye knocked out, blood all over the head and really oozing out the nose and mouth........would a spine shot below the skull cause that much bleeding inside the head?

If it were a joke I would have one picture with the rifle back at the road and 20 with the bow in the field, not the other way around.

I hate to say it, and I hate to see the contest maybe "Tainted" but I think it's pretty clear what happened here? I just hope that the pressure to produce for "Your team" or be recognized by your peers doesn't produce more of that.

I'm more than a little sad by what I am seeing here. And I hate that this will have the feel of a trial and I got all CSI for something that is supposed to be "Fun" but.........
I guess you can figure out my vote.I'm sorry.

I'll post up, I ain't skeered....

I personally don't feel the deer was shot w/a bow, BUT.....the posting rules WERE followed. I guess if we got nit picky, we would need some type of verification, such as video, that each and every deer entered was indeed shot w/ a bow. OBVIOUSLY not necessary, but you see my point. The posting rules were followed, and we can't really prove otherwise.

He knows how it was harvested, and he knows who harvested it. If the deer was killed w/ a bow, fantastic. If not, and lies have to be told in order for someone to feel like they are "fitting in" or whatever you want to call it....Well, I'll be the very first to apologize for putting that type of pressure on ANYONE.

I know all too well that pressure, it's not fun, but you're the one that has to live with it. Truth or not. Congrats on the buck though, it's a dandy.

And Matt, unless I'm looking at the wrong photo, the deer isn't dressed w/ the bow either.

Yeah I just saw that and I edited my response to remove that from the (I can't believe I'm using the term) evidence.

It still doesn't change my feeling of what happened, I'm sorry.......I wish I didn't have to deal with this but if it is what I think it is in my heart it makes me a little mad too.

Understood, and agreed. No apology necessary. This just isn't something we should even need to be doing, IMO.

Not a team capt. but i feel that i need to give my 2cents. What looks to me like a 40-50# bow at 40 yrds would not blow through a skull?? And MATT/PA all your statements are obvious descrepencies in leathels post. I would have to remove it but who am i to say im not the MOD. I just couldnt do that.

I'll take a stand and then I'll let my team captain know....(And I really AIN'T "Skeered").

I think this is total horse ****. I want nothing to do with a contest that makes people think they have to do something as devious as this......OR.....I want nothing to do with those people.

I think it's REALLY obvious that this is a fake scenario being depicted for a "for fun" bowhunting contest. Why in the world would you take several "fake" photos and ONE harvest photo? It don't add up.

You couldn't pay me $500 to take a photo of me with a buck I took with my bow with me holding a rifle.....joke or no joke. This isn't that tough.

It should be required to incluce pics of entry/exit wounds, and a daily newspaper (w/ dateline photo, also). I'm afraid alot of this kinda thing goes on, unfortunatly. Just my $.02.
