Howler, if I ever hit the lottery I'm buying some property out in your neck of the woods! LOL Sounds like you have my dream hunting spot. I've always wanted to live out there and have access to liberal hunting seasons and be able to hunt such a variety of animals. Around here I'm pretty much limited to birds, small game and whitetail. Although we do have a short bear season and an elk lottery system too.
Whitetailhunter01, thanks for pointing that out. I really didn't look at Hoyt's lineup for 2007 but now I've seen the Vectrix and it's an impressive bow. I really think more manufactures will end up putting these on their bows. They are so effective it means you can take leeches off your string and shoot closer to the advertised IBO speeds from the factory.

And also maybe a skunk or possum here and there. And also will be trapping ground hogs and muskrats as well. Also looking forward to getting my stand hung and archery season starting in about 2 weeks!

Jeramy, I can tell you that having all the various critters to hunt is awesome, but what makes it even more great is the wide open spaces. I am fortunate to have access to several different large ranches, the largest has just over 24,000 acres, because I have several co-workers and friends that don't have that. BUT what seperates them from me is I did the leg work to get my access, and they expect it to fall into thier laps. And quite honestly, hunting coyotes through the winter has gotten me on more land than I can hunt in a year. Most ranchers hate coyotes, and I love to hunt them.
Sometime in the future if ya decide to hunt big game out this way, I'll do what I can to help you be successful.
He's alive. Quick, call off the search party!
Sam, did ya know that you can call racoons, even during daylight, right out of thier dens?
I once was out calling with a cousin and his friend. We were trying to call coyotes, but after one stand my cousin had seen a coon go into a den hole. We went down to it, I got above the hole on the bank and his friend squalled the coon right out of the hole and I shot it with my bow. Dangest thing I'd ever seen.

Howler, sounds like you have some awesome hunting! Back when I was younger I would earn permission to hunt local farms. Never anything over 200 acres though. But around here our farmers hate groundhogs and I used to have a field day with my .243 and a box of ammo. The farmers would have horses and cattle that would end up with broken legs from falling into the groundhog holes. So I had a nice little rotation where I'd jump from farm to farm every few days and help out. I also helped bail hay and harvest corn in the fall. In return I got to hunt some really nice property for whitetail, pheasants and doves.
Extreme, don't worry about being online. We all have lives outside of Hunting.net.
Just make sure to check in from time to time.

You guys sure do like varmit hunting. I never really got much into it...well unless you consider a squirrel a varmit. Good News Good News! My buddy and I put out the cameras last weekend and checked them this friday. On his camera which is about 200 yards from my camera and stand he had 6 different bucks. 1 basket 8pt, 2 shooter 7 points (both score a little over 100"), 2 six points, 2 spikes, and 1 huge 3pt. No doe pictures were taken on his camera. However mine had all does and 1 button head. I told him he had to save me one of the seven points. I know there is a bigger buck in the area. My food plots are already about 2 inchs tall. So thats good. Anyway, season opens here before too long maybe it wont be too hot. I left my camera at my office so no pics this week sorry.

That is good news SteveO. Its nice to have something to look forward too. I actually decided not to use the trail cameras this year. Trying to pull the old surprise attack on opening day I guess. It sure is fun getting those pics back though.
Same here as far as not being able to post as much as most of you guys. Just real busy with work and preparing for the season. Dont worry though when it comes to hunting season I say to hell with work.LOL

I'm on a computer 10+ hours a day between work and home. I always have HNI open in my browser. I try not to let it be a distraction but I can't help it. At least my boss is a hunter and can relate.
