Well, I've been doing a lot of hunting the past 2 weeks but no score as yet. I hate to admit this but I missed a big doe at 11 yards last week. Buck fever I guess???? Oh well, I did see a big eight and hopefully the end of the week will be more positive. Good luck to all.

Bob !

I sure hope your wife is O.K. and she definately come's before our little contest here . So take good care of her and she'll be respectfull to your hunting when she get's better.

Spudrow !

The eye is almost back to normal ,so this weekend I've been real busy hanging some new stand's and cutting shooting lane's for them as well. I have 7 guy's from another forum that I moderate on, coming next weekend for a weekend bowhunt . I did get out last night with a friend for an evening hunt ,but only seen does and fawn's ,which actually almost ran us over and they seen us first ,but after getting a bit of wind in their face they decided it may be a big mistake .They were just out in the field playing around and running all over ,they weren't feeding . I think we may have seen 1 buck right at dark ,but after backing up for a second look ,I was just able to catch his back end going into the wood's.I will try to get out again this week ,since I'll be on afternoon shift.

Morning all my wife thanx you for the good wishes. We ended up in the ER yesterday morning, I told her it was old age but the Dr. said it wasn't . She is feeling much better today and said she thinks she is allergic to ME iowabob85 no chance. Well good luck to everyone that will be going out this week, just maybe I can slide in a morning sometime this week.

Well ruttin doesn't seem to want to play here ,so I guess he's laying low . I'm sure if he bag's his buck he'll show .
Glad to hear your wife is feeling better ,but if she's allergic to you Bob ,then that should be a good thing ,you can hunt any time you want ,the less your around the less the allergies kick in LOL

well, I have no idea why the deer werent moving this weekend. I only got to hunt sunday and i saw one booner spike in the am and i sa 6 in the evening but didnt shoot any slick heads. I did check the trail camera and Ive got about 3 or 4 nice bucks ill post pictures later today. They are about as good as it gets for south eastern ohio hill country deer.

RE: 44-Official Team 44 Thread.

I think they are moving, just later in the evening and earlier in the am. Where I hunt they are bedding up most of the day. I watched 3 does last week bed down 70 yards away from me for 2 hours. I had to go so I snuck out and they never knew the diff.

Well fellas getting much colder here in Iowa in the mornings so it is almost time for the magical time of the year. This is my favorite time of the year and always has been, it use to be because of pheasant hunting but now it is solely because of the rut and the opportunity to bag a Iowa monster. The pheasant numbers are very low here in western iowa now partly because of the coyotes and I feel mainly because of the Red Tailed Hawks. Heck we have been hunting be4 and had a pheasant jump and a hawk will swoop down and takeit right out of the air.Well you allhave a great week and I will check in daily. As for you RUTTINBUCKS you have been on here alot more than AlabamaSlama and a few others. Cmon we need some participation.

I got up early this morning ,trying to get some hunting in and it's raining hard ,so i just went back to bed . I'll be hunting with my guy's from www.ontariotrophybucks.com this weekend and Now that the wind's have changed from the south to the north the temp's are dropping . The seeking stage will be starting here and with the hunters moon arriving this weekend should make for some good hunting.

For any of you guy's who want to see the quality of buck's that we have here in Ontario ,you can check them out on the site I just attatched . All of you's are welcome to visit.

Hopefully I'll have a chance at a decent buck this weekend ,or maybe one of the other's will take one down ,but I'll post pic's of our hunt for you's to see.

Found a great "funnel" leading to an orchard. Saw two bucks and three does - bucks at 60 yds 8point not massive but nice - when a life flight copter flew right over. I found out later it was a hunter that fell out of a tree getting into a stand - don't know his condition. But a dog barking and the copter caused the buck to turn and head back into cover. Hunted the spot with a friend last night but the wind was 20mph. two does bedded -ran as we walked in. I'm going to let it cool and try it again this weekend.

FRALEY yer efforts are more than appreciated my friend!!!!!!!! I too am going to hunt some this weekend finally . Probably will go check out a new piece of ground that I just got permission to hunt. Looks really good and one time I was tracking a wounded doe and found a 16 point buck that had been shot during the 1st shotgun season. I did some checking and found out that a 13 year old boy had shot it and told the father where he could find the deer because I did not remove it but new exactly where to find it in case nobody claimed it. It was beautiful and woulda scored in the 160's but I was extremely happy to let this young man know where he could find his trophy. Just hope he passed some of those genes on to his sons and they are hanging around there still.

Well Thank You Bob.

Ruttin is heading out right now as I type. He asked me which stand to hunt and with a northeast wind today I told him to hunt mine. Stay tuned he might get onto one. Oh wait he dont have a doe yet but he still might get a nanny wacker. If he can get a doe this morning and then a buck come by he can shoot it. He just has to register them together. Good Luck hunting later buddy.

Here's an excerpt from my 10/25.07 "Deer Tale" journal

Tonight I had one of my best hunts in a while. Or at least its been a while since I’d had that much fun. During my morning routine I was thinking of how to get at some deer in a nearby field. They were always out in the field when I hunted them before and they never walked past the ground blind that my son and I had set up on a travel corridor. Then it hit me - why not just “still” hunt them. I had scouted out a large pine with a downed branch that would give my ground blind some cover, but it was too late (no time) to move the blind so my plan was to just slip in and try to get some cover between me and the deer and see what happens. The wind was blowing perfect for this approach. All was working well, I had made it to with in 15 yards of the field edge with out getting busted. I could see nine does in the field. They were fun to watch, as they looked my way a few times but I froze and eventually they went back to feeding. They were looking every which way as cars drove by or dogs barked. Well I couldn’t quite get set up in a spot that had cover and lanes to shoot, when the wind died - I was caught in a bad spot with no cover noise and deer feeding in my direction. I maneuvered behind some small sapling type trees and waited - ankles cramping. A few times I thought I’d blew it when I tried to change position but the does went back to munching away. One doe was heading my direction . I drew on her at 40 yards, very close to letting the arrow fly but I let down. I just didn’t have the confidence for a quick and fatal shot. I had practiced at 40 yards, but not enough. I still had light left so I thought I let things play out and see what happens.

Meanwhile one doe goes trotting into the woods to try to find out who I was, but walked out again with out knowing I was there. As the light faded I became more bold and stood - creeping closer to a feeding doe. She fed away from me at 30 yds but with a bush between us. Then at the last light I tried a mouth doe bleat she trotted into the woods like the other deer to circle me. I bleated again and again she had enough and ran into the field taking all the other deer with her, which was OK. The light was gone. I went and moved the blind near this spot so my son and I can try this weekend. A friend was driving by the road and said he saw 15 deer in the field. What a blast bow hunting can be! It would be great if I could get my kid on these deer...

Sound's like a fun time Deertale , I know the feeling of trying to get close to deer feeding in the field . Today I seen 1 doe and 2 fawn's and then watched 8 point buck walk clear across the field to meet with the doe ,only thing is that the fawn's kept interupting his approach . Something scared the doe and she trotted off into the hardwood's and the buck followed her .They trotted right past my stand in the corner ,if I had goten in that stand a simple mouth bleat probably would have been enough to get him to stop and he would have been stck in a heartbeat .But unfortunately I was in the observation stand about 70 yrds up the fence row . After they left the field I turned oround to see another deer feeding in the harvested corn ,but at that time I couldn't tell whether it was a buck or a doe ,until he raised his head ,that's when I realized I was looking a real nice wide 8 point buck ,he fed for about 20 minute's before he sauntered off into another bush on the other side of the field from me . He came out from another location where i had been setting up a ladder stand ,tomorrow evening I'll be in that stand ,so if he show's he's going to be down . Someone need's to get us started and this weekend I'll be doing my best to do just that.

TEAM 44

WE ARE NOW ON THE BOARD.

RE: 44-Official Team 44 Thread.

Well i have a pretty good story, Its unbeleivable i was even able to get on the board on this day!

Well it all started out WRONG! I got outta the cabin late and rode the 4 wheeler down the road got stopped by 2 different people and had to talk. I then went into the woods and walked about a half mile to a stand I hunted the morning before and observeda nice buck chasing does. I took my climber this time and went up the hill farther to attempt a better chance at him. I finally got setup and everything just about shooting time. I checked all the trees for yardages and waited.

8 am.A nice big lone doe came over the hill to within 25 yards, took the shot- hit a limb and missed low-the doe continued
8:05 am I took another shot this time it was a clean miss right over her back, I was looking through the string not the peep I was shaking from just missing and the cold.

9 am. I decided it would be a good time to goof off and start blowing a grunt tube- without looking around first! i blew that thing for about 5 or 6 times. As soon as i put it down i look up and no more than 25 yards is a decent buck walkingRIGHT at me. I have no idea why he didnt see me but he continued. I was able to stand up and get drawed and he was quartering hard toward me " I know were not SUPPOSED to take that shot but it was close about 15 yards. So i put the pin on his shoulder and let the strikers do their job. The buck went down within 75 yards and piled up. Its not the biggest one Ive killed but its not a bad buck.
I also lost my wedding band in the woods but after 2 hrs of searching I finally found it.

Stevezt4!

Way to go on getting your buck ,.something's just happen in that fashion and it's hard to explain ,sometime's when thing's are perfect it just doesn't happen either ,but someone was looking over your shoulder on this day . It's sure good to get the team on the board and I'm sure the guy's will certainly appreciate it ,maybe it'll get them all pumped up. He's definately a great looking buck.
I was out all weekend and passed on a spike and a doe at 10 yard's on 2seperate occassion's ,unfortunately I only got to see the big guy once this weekend and he ended up running into the hardwood's at a location I had decided not to put my stand . I second guessed the location and if I had just put it there in the first place I'd have a buck to show for as well.

Anyway's congrat's again on a fine buck and Thank's

Stevezt4, awesome buck and way to be the first from our team to get on the board.

Well Finally got my fiance a deer, Taken with her bow, from the ground, 20 yard shot, Its' her first deer ever and with her bow, I am very proud. It's a buck that we have been watching since summertime, its one that was running around with Austin's buck (my littlebrother), Not the one we were after but still a great first ever buck

Now I am up and boy I am after a dandy that we saw right after she shot hers

buelman thats a good looking buck your fiance killed. Im thinking about getting my wife into the woods to shoot a deer now that i can focus on teaching her and not just hunting myself. I should let her shoot one with a crossbow after some practice of course.

Like I said it wasnt necessarily the deer i was looking at but im still happy with him.
