RE: 44-Official Team 44 Thread.

Well I just got back with my son Jared and had 4 doe's and 1 other deer across the field from us which we couldn't make out . I'm holding out on taking my buck first then I'll hammer one of those doe's .
It started raining and I figured we would call it a day early so i could get Jared to school by 10:00 am . I'm going to move my laddter stand into the corner "NEAR" where I'm seeing the deer go into every evening . Seem's like all the deer enter the wood's at this very point ,so if I can put the stand close ,I just may walk out of there with a decent buck this season .
I agree with you BOB Steve need's to take a deer he's comfortable with ,and as I already stated I've made that same mistake and passed on a 130 to 140 class one season only to not see another buck close the rest of the season ,so hopefully he'll conect before the buck's begin to change their pattern .

I'm taking Jared {10 yrs old}out with me again this Sat ,because now he's beginning to feel what I feel about the wood's , I know he love's to see deer and it's really great to see his eye's when he see's a deer in the wood's ,it's also good to have a second pair of eye's .

Good luck guy's and keep the stories coming .

yea i wont be as picky this year i dont imagine. its just hard to shoot something smaller just because i would like to see the smaller ones grow into bigger deer.

hey guys hows everyones season goin so far? iv been out 2 days now and iv seen a couple good bucks but mostly 2 1/2 year olds. i passed on 135 inch deer last night and i hope i dont end up regreting that but for the bucks iv seen in here i dont think i will.

nubo 10-03-2007 10:53 PM

RE: 44-Official Team 44 Thread.

Just remember if every 1 on the team take's a deer 100 inch's we'll be right near the top ,that's all it'll take to win this thing . So when your out there passing on 135 class deer remember that . Here where I am in Ontario a 135 buck is a good buck ,so I would be putting the smack down on that deer .

Good luck and I'm sure you's know what kind of deer you's have in your area ,so pick wisely . Pick for your team.

Now nubo you know that we have to pick for ourselves 1st, right. Don't shoot something that you are not going to be happy with especially if you are in a 1 buck state like myself. I didn't see my last post on here that I made a couple of days ago and makes me wonder what the heck happened to it. Anyway I was on my way home from work tuesday night and just about a 1/2 mile up the roed from my house I saw a really small doe with a arrow sticking out of her in front of her back hip aiming towards the front slightly. It kinda made me mad because it was a terrible shot placement. Itwasn't moving very well so I suppose it went off into that cornfield and died, probably coyote food. Oh well I guess that is lifes circle for that deer. Well better get ready for work fellas later from Iowa.

Well I better check in I wouldn't want anyone saying that I wasn't being part of the team.........
Anyways going to Atlanta, today won't be back until sunday so don't worry about me........

As for the deer you pass or take its totally up to you the bowhunter don't let ANYONE tell you, you need to shoot a deer just for some contest on the interweb, if you like him take him, ifyou think heisn't old enough let him walk, it's just a contest for fun and thats what bowhunting is........FUN....... Don't forget that, or try and put people down for not shooting a deer that you would have (FOR POINTS). Everyone lives in different places that grow different sizes deer, Shoot what you wantandYou will have fun doing it.

No you guy's are right ,you need to be happy with what you harvest ,maybe i need to choose my word's a little better . I 'm just thinking that a 135 buck here in this part Ontario would be a good one . I'd just really like this team to be really successful and that's it . I don't mean to tell anyone what size of deer to take ,I'd just really like to see us get some inch's on the board .

I cannot wait till I finally get to go hunting. Too much crap going on right now for me like work[:'(]. I think that once everyone gets to start hunting there will be no problem putting some numbers up on the board. I plan on helping us out with a healthy number and I am sure everyone else does also. Well fellas aim true and take one for you.

FRALEY so do the Badgers. Lets see what happens now in the Big Ten looks like lllinois and Indiana are in the driver seat well of course along with Ohio State. Got my kids today so guess what no hunting for dad today[:-]. Oh well it's the price you gotta pay when you got little ones. Just keep thinking about when they have grown and aren't here to drive me nuts anymore.

Unbelievable that running on the badgers. Will the children hunt or to young to tell right now?

RE: 44-Official Team 44 Thread.

They will when they are old enough. One is 13 now and just completed the Hunter Safety Course (which I think is a very good idea for children and anyone else getting into hunting) but the other is a 2 y.o and I am afraid that when he gets old enough to hunt he will just run them down and cut there throats. Definitely a psycho baby LOL. Never have seen a child quite like this one, he was walking when he was 7.5 months old and running when he was 8 months old. Oh ya he started talking in sentences when he was about 8 months old also. Just way too smart, don't have any idea where he got that from. I would love too find a youth bow for my 13 y.o. but don't want some cheapo from Wal-Mart just as soon save up some money and get him something he can use a while..

well let me just say my 4 days of hunting was rather unproductive due to heat in the 90's. Im sorry butits ohio and its october and that just isnt right! I walked less than a hundred yards and i felt like i was in a sauna. Let alone try putting a scent lock head cover on! WELL IT WAS BAD I GOT BIT BY MOSQUITOS ALL OVER MY HEAD AND HANDS i was seeing deer but i cant kill a deer unless its huge in this weather. Well ill just wait for cooler weather i guess

I do not like fighting mosquitos when I am hunting so I usually don't go out when they are still trying to eat me. It has really cooled off here in Iowa overnight but guess what, yup I have to work today[:'(]. First really good day of the season and I have to go draw blood at the hospital. Oh well got make money to enjoy this crazy sport. Well fellas not much else going on here so I will talk to ya all later.

My story is more of the same - hot weather, not enough time, etc... But the weather is changing here with the winds coming off the lake cooling things down by the lake shore - but of course I had work and community commitments over the weekend. I'm planning on getting out some time this week. But next week end is shot, so we'll see.

Weather has really cooled off here in Iowa but as usual no time till this weekend maybe. As for yer brother FRALEY he has been a no show pretty much since this team was put together except for a few times when he was ranting about our team name. Tell him we would sure enjoy his participation if he can find time to get on here once and a while. Heck maybe he is hunting so much he doesn't have any time. Sorry nubo about complaining about the attendance but just had to say it to FRALEY:eek:.

No appoligies necessary Bob ,seem's most guy's are busy during the week but they mostly show up on weekend's . We have a couple who rarely show ,but it seem's regardless of how much we ask them to show ,it doesn't seem to matter . We'll have to get on without them and I'm sure once they take their buck they'll be here .

Ya nubo we can only hope I guess. Sure would like to hear more though from AlabamSlamma and RUTTINGBUCKS. Who knows maybe they are out there tying up a biggun for themselves. Well my luck just seems to get worse, tonight on the way home I hit yet another deer. It didn't do much damage but it was on the opposite side of the last deer[8D]. Maybe it means I won't have any trouble with getting close to deer this season cause lord knows I am not having much trouble getting close to them at the moment. Maybe my deer magnet is on finally, been a couple years since it has been on and maybe it will be my year. Have alot to do at the moment though to get ready for the rut. Well talk to ya later fellas.
