Well fellas got some good news and some bad news. The 170" monster showed up under me saturday morning right in the middle of my shooting lane, I drew back trying desperately to control my shaking and settled my 30 yard pin on him right in the vital arrow and let it fly. Bad news he was only 22 yards away and when I released my arrow he dropped down to take off. Morebad news all hegot was a haircut. Just barely ticked the top of his back. I would rather that happened though than to hit him high in a area withouttouching any of his vitals. It happened so fast and in a permanent stand that I had never sat in be4. Shoulda did a better job of checking my distances. I am truely sorry fellas for not closing the deal but at least I did get a chance at him. I moved my stand to a deer highway that I found after getting down from my stand yesterday morning. Hopefully it will pay off for me and the team. Good luck all and don't give up on me yet.

That's right Bob no appoligy necassary ,just glad he never took the arrow and ran off wounded . I know your pain though ,I had a similar exoperience a few year's back with a real large 12point buck ,unfortunately it was the last timeI ever seen that buck . I heard a few week's later about the guy on a nieghboring property getting himself a P&Y book buck ,apparently the largest taken in this area in a few year's . I can only think that it was the buck thatI had been hunting for 4 year's .

I was out this evening and seen 3 doe's 2 fawn's and a small 4 point buck after only being in stand for a few minute's . I'm going to head out again tomorrow evening ,we're expecting a good storm this week and hopefully they'll all be out tomorrow and just maybe I can connect . It's not from lack of trying ,because I don't give up .

RE: 44-Official Team 44 Thread.

Well I hunted a new set yesterday a.m. and I am thinking it was a good idea to move a stand in there. I spooked one deer while going into sit. I got in the stand and within 20 minutes 4 does walked by. Not 5 minutes later a really good buck was standing in the alfalfa field just around 50 yards south of my stand. He was just standing there so I decided to try and entice him to come on in and bleated at him with very little response. I then decided to grunt really lightly and that was a mistake he left the area in a big hurry. After that I saw another really old buck that was going downhill crossing the creek behind my stand and another doe but the big boy never did show up again. There are rubs all over this patch of woods so I decided to look around a little better and I found a rub on a tree that has to be at least 20"s in diameter. It is the second biggest rub that I have ever seen. A couple years ago I found some rubs in this drainage that were on trees big enough to hang treestands in, during shotgun season we got a buck from that area that scored 191", I can only hope that a big boy like that is making the rub on this tree that will compare to that big boy. Well have to work today so no hunting for me but will be back at it tomorrow a.m. and then the next 4 days off so with any luck I will have a goodun down for us by Sunday night.

Keep at her Bob and good thing's are gonna happen for you . I was out again this evening and it was clear and slight north breeze happening ,but for the first time this season I never got a glimpse of a deer , I couldn't believe it ,we're expecting a snow storm Thurs or Fri and with all the variable ,wind clear, and simply a georgeous night i totally expected good thing's tonight . I guess I'll have to try again tomorrow evening .

I agree SteveZ 118sound's a bit shy of what it look's ,but I've also been pretty surprised before as well. Double check her and get him posted .

Off for 4 days starting Thanksgiving so look out bucks iowabob will be on the prowl. Hate not having anything down though this late in the season. I have some pictures of a monster that they found dead south of my house. He died because of blue tongue it is a darn shame. I will post a couple of pics.

Way to go SteveZ ,sure glad to see you got him entered .I'm sure someone else here has got to take a buck soon . I was out tonight and had 2 doe's and 2 fawn's come out of the bedding area ,shortly after a small 8 point came out to join them. They walked right across the field ,but only casme within 50yrds of me , I really need to take something soon ,the snow is starting to pile up and i had to take 3 run's at a hill in order to get to the bush tonight . I'm going to try again in the morning and maybe the big guy will show ,I know he's still there because I've seen his track's right in front of my stand . I'll just keep my finger's crossed .

RE: 44-Official Team 44 Thread.

Well my Sat was avery exciting morning, asI walked into my stand ,I looked across the cornfield and could see a sillouet of a deer standing on the top of the hill , I brought up my bino's to see that he was one huge buck that I had been seeing periodically . I wasn't sure this big guy made it through the gun hunt till Wed night when I found his track's crossing in front of my treestand ,but now I had actually seen him ,as I looked further up the field I see another very large buck walking and feeding in the cornfield .I tried to skirt up the edge of the fence row to get a little closer and that 's when a real nice 8 point walk's out of the fencerow and stand's broadside to me at 20yrds,"shoot" ,he caught me by total surprise and I wasn't ready for him . He looked around ,but didn't appear to have seen me and walked directly across inthe direction of my stand ,so I continued up the edge of the fencerow to get a closer look at the big guy's on the opposite side of the field ,they appeared to be heading toward's my stand as well ,so I figured if I could stay low and get closer to my stand ,I just might get a shot at 1 of these bruiser's .Then everything went haywire and another 8 point walked out of the fencerow[ a different 8 point]and stood once more broadside in front of me ,this time they knew I was something out of place ,when he turned his head ,I lifted my bow and out come's a 4 point standing not 15 yrds from me in front of the 8 point ,this little buck stared me down for an eternity as the 8 point was trying to get downwind of me ,I had a couple opportunities where the 8 point had turned his head in the opposite direction ,but each time the 4 point had me froze and and would run up inbetween me and the 8 point and would take my shot away. Finally the 8 point got wind of me and the 2 of them took off across the field and into the ravine . The 2 big brute's never got close enough to know that I was there and gradually headed into the hardwood's behind my stand . All this happened in a matter of about 15 to 20 minute's ,what a rush it was . We have about 1 foot of snow on the ground and the deer litterally have the field covered with track's ,so they're pretty darn active right now .
I returned this afternoon and decided to cover the ravine ,thinking that just maybe this nice 8 point may give me a shot ,but after 3 hr's of sitting I decided I had to go check out the cornfield ,Sure enough a buck ,doe and fawn out feeding . I had my buddy TerryM with me and he had setup in a groundblind at the mouth of the bedding area, he was looking for a decent doe or fawn for the freezer, that's when he looked out into the field and seen my hogg following his foot print's through the field and right out front of him ,only too far away to get a shot at .Terry was pretty excited when I got to him ,so we followed his track's, and wouldn't you know it ,he walked up and stood not 20yrds from my stand .The first day I decide to hunt another spot and the bugger ,just happen's to add salt to a sore wound . Terry figure's this buck may be a 12 point around the 300lb mark ,so I'll try again later this afternoon after my son's hockey game .Sooner or later something's gotta give ,I've worked waaaaaay too hard to come out of this bush with nothing . I'm going to tag this bruiser .
We also seen 4 deer running across the field on our way out tonight ,but it was too dark to get a good look ,but when the field's all covered in snow and it's a full moon you can see pretty well. Just not well enough to get a shot . So todaywe seen 7 buck's and 5 doe's and 1 fawn . It sure was a great day of hunting .

Hunted 4 days straight and nothing good passes by me. Just wanted to let you guys know about my situation. nubo you saw about the captains vote on the questionable kill. I myself when I first saw the picture of this deer felt something was fishy with this situation. In the thread for the vote people started taking jabs at Rob who donated his time to run this contest and it looks like he is stepping down from running this contest. Everyone knew the rules when they entered the contest and if you didn't it is yer own fault. If Rob has stepped down and atlasman is going to run the contest then I am not going to be participating in the contest. So if atlasman is in charge count me out. I just do not understand why someone would think he needs to cheat in a for fun contest it isn't like yer gonna win a new Mathews Drenaline or a Bowtech Guardian or something all you get is some cool stuff from HNI and a few other things from some other companies that have donated them. Shame on anyone that feels they need to cheat in a for fun contest. ou guys go take a look at lethal connections deer and tell me that deer was killed with a bow, isn't possible as far as I am concerned even without the pictures with the rifle. So the jury is out as far as my participation. Sorry guys for the situation but I am not sure if I can participate with anyone that feel they need to cheat just to add points to there team in a for fun contest.

I didn't see it BOB till now and when i went to post it had been locked out,but I totally agree with you on this . I only ever remember 1 other name calling and disturbing insident on here in the past 4 season's and it as well caused by Atlasman . If Rob goes this will be my last season as well.
I also agree the buck look's real odd and as Matt said how do you drop the head on the track's do that much damage and do none to the rack ???? Good question . I think it's fishy and also agree why would you take pic's with a gun with your bow kill as a joke ????? I don't get it and I think it stink's . I would definately disqualify it myself .

Me and ruttin were hunting hard but no bucks to show. It was gun season here in Wi and some of my bow land got messed up now. Usually no one hunts it with a gun. I will stay at it though and have a backup plan.

Some people just really know how to push my buttons and after I read what that person did I was fuming mad. Rob has done so much for everyone on here and then someone has the nerve to call him out. Yes I did call out atlasman in my post but do I feel bad about it nope. Oh well it is over with now. Saturday is the start of gun season here and the bowhunting will go downhill after that not that it has been that great so far. Well gonna go sit be4 work so maybe I can get it done be4 the army cuts loose.

And yes FRALEY we missed you around here. Welcome back my friend.

I'm behind you 100% Bob ,but would sure appreciate it if you would wait and see what happen's before you call her quit's . I have my doubt's anyone will let Atlasman take the reighn's on this ,he's caused too much trouble here in the past . I also agree Rob has given his heart and soul for everyone who frequent' this site and contest ,and it definately come's from his passion for bowhunting ,he doesn't deserve this and need's to be respected for what he's done for us all including Atlasman . The guy should have been banned a few year's ago in my opinion ,but he's still hangin around doing what he does best. Being a real pain in the butt.

Are there still some pictures of this guys(who tried to cheat) buck around? I couldn't find anything on the forum. I was totaly with out a clue that this happened.

Well anyway, it back to business here in Wisc. - all those pumpkin hunters are out of the woods. I don't mind the guns, but just all the people. The deer should be settling down real soon. The temps are cold (its 10 right now). Those deer aught to be moving... My kid really wants to shoot a deer with his bow. we'll see

Big storm coming in Saturday for us. They are talking ice for us and then snow on top of it. I will be out hunting Friday hoping that the deer will be moving prior to this event. Shotgunners start Saturday so it will be three weeks be4 I can get back out there. I will be hunting the 2nd shotgun season with my family and friends even though I really don't enjoy the shotgun scene that much. Wish me luck Friday I think it should be a good day with that cold front coming in on the weekend.

If it's storming why hunt? I'm talking rain. The chance of not finding your deer is ata much higher risk. If you stick one the rain will wash out the trail and youmay never find that big brute.

Just my 2 cents. Doesn't mean I'm right.

We have been getting pelted with snow all week long and I have a few guy's coming sat for an early morning hunt and evening hunt . I'm not sure if I'll be able to drive to the back or if we'll have to walk through 20 inch's of fresh snow that they're calling for this evening ,but regardless I'll be out there trying to bag this big buck that I've been seeing pretty regularly . The weather is calling for -15 temp's in the morning . Good luck Bob and hope your time is this weekend. We need to get a couple more deer on the scoreboard.
