Well had a hunch tonight on a certain spot. Saw this buck at 4:40 pm moving at a slow trott approx 80 yards. Grunted soft once and then louder, gave a quick can call and he came in snorting. Cirlced me once then stopped at 17 yards, pulled the trigger and he ran approx 50 yards and piled up. Came home for dinner then me and son will go drag him out. Will take better picture with bow and score him later.

MDarcher, great buck, what character he has. Great work, the persistance paid off.

As for me, i have been hunting hard with hardly anything to show for it as of lately. Monday morning was great hunt, where i actually almost put it all together. I was in my favorite stand, and had a real scrape about 30 yards from me and a mock scrape about 15 yards away and both were getting hit hard. I saw three doe all in range at first light, they hung out for about a half hour then things went quiet. It was a cool morning with no wind, things were dead quiet. At around 7:45, i heard a twig snap directly behind me so i slowly turned around only to see a 130 inch 8 point 5 yards below me. I have no idea how he got that close without me seeing or hearing him. Anyhow, he has no idea i was there. I grabbed my bow and started to draw and he heard the arrow sliding on the rest i guess and bounded off 4 hops. Now he was 20 yards broadside to me, but behind a bush.[:@] He slowly walked off so i grunted at him, which brought him back to 25 yards and broadside, but behind another bush[:@][:@]. He then decided it was time to go and walked off. I said what the hell, so when he was about 50 yards away i slowly tickled my rattling antlers, which stopped him and he turned to look for a few seconds, but it wasnt meant to be. He slowly trotted off. I was heartbroken. Went back and hunted that afternoon and saw nothing. Ill be back in that stand tonight, the wind should be perfect and hopefully with this storm coming in, they will be moving.

How about a guess at what my buck scores? Everyone post a guess and when I get him scored in next day or so we shall see who is closest.
May take a few days for me to score him, works got me locked down ATM.

Well team, im checking in with great news, i have a buck down. He is no monster by any stretch of the imagination, but im proud of him. Here is what happened, i went back to the property where i had the encounter with the monster 8. As i was getting out of the truck, i saw a broken rack 8 point make 3 scrapes in the field edge. After he left, I set up in a tree where they had to funnel through to get accross a small creek. There were scrapes on both sides, so i put some dominant buck piss in the scrapes, and then hung an estrus wick on a nearby branch. I set up and waited. Around 3:30 i saw a decent buck. He was about 100 yards out, and through the binos, i couldnt tell if he was a 7 or 8 point, but i could tell something was different on the end of his right main beam. As he was slowly closing the distance to me, it looked like he had a 1" drop tine at the end of the right main beam, but i could tell for sure. I decided then i was going to shoot him so i put down the binoculars. He closed the distance to about 30 yards and was going to cross a shooting lane at 20 yards and 10 yards, but at about 25 yards out, he stopped, looked up at me and stomped his hoof. He then turned away and walked off. I was so pissed. I regrouped, sat back down and waited. A half hour later, the 8 point i shot showed up. He came from the opposite direction and scrounging around under a small branch looking for some acorns. He was only 10 yards from me but facing directly towards me. I waited for about 2 minutes, and then he turned broadside and i drew. As i drew, he looked up at me, i wasnt anchored yet. I held for about 45 seconds and luckily some geese landed in the field so he turned his head to look at them. I anchored, put the pin on him and let him have it. He never jumped, but simply bounded 4 jumps and stopped to look around, meanwhile im saying, i know i didnt miss him, whats going on. He then simply fell over stone dead, no kicking or thrashing at all. I sat there, called my buddy who was across the street hunting and told him the good news. As i got off the phone, a small 6 point came down a third path and never knew i was there. Its my favorite spot and i cant be happier. He is a perfectly symetrical 8 point which will score around 100 inches, i havent scored him yet, ill do that later today. Now i just have to mess around with downloading the pics. Luckily for me, i can keep hunting, we have a muzzleloader season, 2 shotgun seasons and a winter bow season, so i can take 4 more bucks if i want. Ill keep hunting with the bow, so maybe i can get the shot at the big buck. Pics to come shortly.

Congrats Rob! WTG on scoring on what sounds like a good buck. Can't wait to see the pics...

Well fellas bad news for me. Found one of the big boysdead. 21 inches wide 9pt. Don't no how he died, but it doesn't look likethe deer has been dead for too long. Could be from the EDH or fighting. This is one of the bucks that I have been hunting this year. 100yds away from one of my stands.....
