Hello Teammates!!!! I'm 30 years old and live in central New York. Since moving from PA 4 yrs ago I have taken 2 nice bucks with my bow. I havepermission to 2 -60 acres of land the is surrounded by deer management. With another 100+ at my disposal. I look forward to helping my team earn the title of 2007 HN Bowhunting Champions.
On a side note I got married last night... It's OK, she knows she married a hunter!! Does anyone else practice deer management? Navydeerhunter, my father was in the Navy in the 70's for 4 yrs and just retired from Army reserves after 20+ years of service. He was on the USS Tripoli and a few others. Hope to hear from you guys soon... I'm going to hang a stand! |

You too Troy,
Luck of the draw almost had us on teams again. Hi fellows team 42 guys. I'm from the pittsburgh area, should get lots of time to hunt, including a week at the beginning of november. I hunt a lot of pressured areas but manage to do ok on taking the nicer bucks in my areas. |

Okay gergie, I have to question your priorities. You just got married and the day after are on HNI? Everything okay there? I can see if it were hunting season already, but....
Just kidding. I got married in April of this year and like you...my wife knows exactly what she has gotten herself into. I forgot to ask in my original post...when do seasons start for the rest of you? Mine starts September 15th and although it'll be hot, I'll be out there. How about Sunday hunting? Here in Maryland we can only hunt on a few sundays out of the year. We got a couple more added this year and will hopefully be able to hunt every sunday sometime soon. We're one of only 7 states with that law still on the books and for us it's the oldest remaining "blue law" we have. Good luck to all and post trail cam pics if you have them. Hi everyone, my name is Chris and I am 25 yrs old. I live on the border of Guernsey and Muskingum Counties in Ohio. I have 2000acres of AEP property in Muskingum county that I lease with 8 other guys. My father and I also havetwo 100 acre farms in Tuscarawas county and a 150acre farmof our own. We are allowed to hunt on Sundays and all of our properties have produced large bucks every year. My 2006 10 pt gross scored at 161 2/8 and one of the guys in our lease group harvested an 18pt that grossed in the lower 200's and netted 183 1/8. My season starts on Sept. 29th and I wish allmy team 42 members good luck this season.

RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Sorry I was slacking and didn't realize the teams had been picked. Anyways, I'm 23 and live in southwest Illinois just on the IL side of St. Louis. I do all of my hunting in central and West-Central Illinois. Montgomery, Hancock, and Adams counties. Should be a good year. There is a ton of corn around. Just waiting for this 100 degree temps to break and I'll finish my preseason preparations this weekend and be ready to roll!

RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Yea, I am lucky to have some good private areas to hunt. Hopefully I will be able to help our team out this year by puttin some points on the board. Didn't have a lot of luck last year during bow season. Missed a nice 10 that would have easily scored P&Y. I think you (rybo) or Navy would be good picks for captain. Since this is my first year in the contest, I'm just here to help out and learn some new things.

RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Hello fello teammates, njbuck22 checking in. My name is Rob and im 26 years old, have been hunting for the past 5 seasons and absolutely love it. I will be doing 99% of my hunting here in NJ, but there are a few nice bucks running around. My one hunting partner shot one that was in the 150s last year, so you never know, a more realistic goal would be a deer that is 115ish, but we shall see. I currently hunt about 5 properties that are all private, and come hunting season, i normally aquire more. Most of my hunting is in small neighborhoods, which sometimes hold big deer, getting on them is a different story, but part of the fun.
As for team names, i like the idea of rutting bucks, but am open to any other ideas as well. Im looking forward to helping out team 42 win the title this season and am also looking forward to getting to know you guys over the course of the season. |

Here is an idea for a team logo.

RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
That looks pretty neat.
I've been drawing blanks on team names. Trying to think of something original, but that's getting hard with lots of teams over the years. |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
When is the deadline for check in with the rest of the team members?
|
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
The rules say Oct 1st, but I'd say more along the lines of giving them a week, then asking for alternates. We only have 3 more who need to check in.
|
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
These are two bucks from last year. These will be my main targets for this year as long as they are still around. Got close a couple times last fall but not close enough. They should be a couple dandies this year. Haven't checked my camera in a week or so, so hopefully one of these two will show their face soon.
|
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Wide 8pt from last year. Hopefully will still be around.

RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Ryan,
Due to your vast experience with these compititions, I hereby nominate you as team captain. Any seconds??? It seconded, all in favor..... ORIGINAL: rybohunter That looks pretty neat. Here's a few team name suggestions I'll toss out.
november nimrods (although I always took nimrod to mean an idiot, but evidently it was some great ancient hunter) peakrut predators Fall phantoms forest phantoms october archers So we have 2 retired military guys on our team? 1.thanks for serving and 2. You guys should have plenty of time to be in the woods. nj I know what you mean about the suburb chopped woodlot hunting. There are always some bombers around but you never know if they are going to be on the little chunk you can access. If its like here, permission and access to good areas is very tough to come by. |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Good luck this season Capt Ryan! Are you getting the wood to fly right or going to go with Aluminum? -
M |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Rybo,
I'm origanlly from western Pa.. Whereabouts you from? |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Fall Phantoms has a good ring to it. Whatever you decide will be fine with me.
|
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
I'm not retired (yet), 25 years and counting. Will retire with 26 in May of 08. That said, I'm really not working all that hard these days so I should have plenty of time to be in the woods.
Team name is no big issue with me so whatever sounds good to the rest is good with me. gergie
Right now I live in allegheny county about a half hour outside of pittsburgh. But I grew up along the armstrong/westmoreland co border. We can take a little vote on the name. Anyone else feel free to toss out a name if you want. so what are you guys seasons like? Our season runs sept 29-nov 10. I get no sundays in PA. But I am heading over to ohio on sundays this year. I will probably get 8-10 doe tags. Ihope tobe able to fill at least 4-5 of those. We have a longer doe season this year, so who knows, on a good year I may get close to that 8-10 mark. My buck standards are basically 120+ or what I think is a 3.5 + buck.Typically around hereone that old should beat least 120". I should be able to hunt everyday after work, and I take a weeks vacation 1st week of november. Hopefully that all holds true and my job doesn't screw me. It'll be my 1st hunting season with this company, so I'm a little nervous when it comes to things cutting into my hunting time. [8D] |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
What's up Rybo.... good team you guys have, and your right about almost hitting teams with Shedd..... have a good season guys, and good luck
|
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Our season opens Sept. 15th and runs through Jan. 31st. We have a 12 deer limit per weapon, so 36 total for the year. We can take 2 bucks with each weapon, but must take at least two does before taking the second buck.
My personal goal is 6 does and 2 mature bucks. Around here, anything outside the ears gets a second look and if it's mature....it's a shooter. I'm looking forward to a good season having added 3 farms and about 600 acres to my huntable land. Craig |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Morning fellas, i vote for ryan as well. As for a team name, im kinda partial to Autumn Assasins, but whatever you guys want to do works for my. As for the logo, i really liked that camo double drop tine deal, i think that would work real well.
Ryan, like you mentioned, access to good property around here and alot of luck play a big role on some of the properties that i hunt. There are some massive deer around, i hunted a 140 inch 10 point last year, saw him a couple of times, but he was either on a property ( backyard) where i couldnt hunt, or he didnt decide to come in the direction i was in. Lets hope that he is out there this season. |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Hey there gents, Just a quick line to let you all know I will be checking in every so often but right now I am a little busy. My father had another heart attack tuesday so I am a busy running up to the hospital and back everyday.
Seems he will be ok if he would just stop being so stubborn and follow the doctors advice. On the issue of team captains I am good with whatever you guys decide. Will talk with you all later and think safety guys, we do not want any problems this year. Dave |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Bow season here in Ohio opens onSept. 29th. and runs to Nov. 25th and then re-opens on Dec. 2nd until Feb. We can take six deer this year. This year they added 3 antlerless $15 tags for fall bow season only, but you must buy at least buy one regular antler/antlerless $24 tag first.I will be mostly hunting on the weekends, but i do have 7 days off in Nov. for the rut. (Nov. 7th - Nov. 13th)
This year my standards are probably 130+. A couple of deer thatI passed on last year should be around 130 - 140 this year. Hey rybo, what parts of Ohio do you hunt? |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
The season opens here in IL on Oct 1st and runs through early January. I'll be doing the majority of my hunting with an outfitter in Hancock Co. where I will be helping guide. I also have some ground to hunt closer to home for the weekends when I can't make it up north. I also hope to visit Ohio sometime in December to hunt there. My cousin lives just east of Columbus and got us permission on 600 acres. He said it's good stuff.

RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread
Autumn assassins are last years champs, we can't have that name.
buckeye, this will be my 1st attempt hunting over there. I forget exactly which counties, I just looked up some wildlife areas to scout off of I 70. Any more votes towards a name? |
RE: 42-Official Team 42 Thread

What about Team THWACK? |
