Shane, man I hope something turns up. If not, you've busted your butt trying. Sometimes they crawl in a hole and hide and die. I've been there bud..walked past a buck I lost for two months.. finally found him shed hunting... sucked. but it happens..

Good luck

Tim good luck bud, hope you get a shot at a hammer this weekend...

Seems like tough luck for team 5 so far except for Patricks buck... I am a little down because of the quality and quantityof bucks I have been seeing lately. I know there are some biggins out there, but they haven't been very active. I spoke to a guy at one of my sisters college volleyball games the other night, and he suggested using this scent called Dominany Buck. He said he has beenseeing bucks left and right while hethis stuff... Worth a try I guess.

Finally got out this week, but only for a morning hunt. I had off for 2 days, but later that evening I came down with a stomach virus[:@]. What a time to get sick. Anyway as for the hunt, it was really warm out, im talkin mid 60s in the morning, need less to say there was no movement. Just came home today and when I did of course the weather changes and the temperatures drop. What a bunch of bad luck lol.

Went out the other day, started raining like crazy. I held out until my cloths started soaking through and then got down. Had a bid 8 run across my driveway the other night. Headed right towards where I hunt. Should get real interesting within the next 3 weeks. :D

Well team, I just looked over the score card and we are currently sitting in 3rd place. A buck that scores 87 inches or more would put us in the lead for now. We want more than that though, so lets get some inches!! I can say on my behalf that I am getting closer to those big boys. Had one of them last night come within about 75 yards. I am having a decent feeling about this evening!! Good luck guys!!

RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread

Well, last night was quite the night. I started off by bumping a nice and wide 4 point. He is going to be a big boy, thats for sure!!! I bumped him while walking through the bean field while he was standing on the fenceline. He ran about 60 yards, stood there, and then slowly walked off. I think he only heard me, so I don't think I alerted him too much. First thing I see on stand was something that looked like a coyote, but he looked almost black. I think it was a wild dog, or possibly a timberwolf. I want to rule out timberwolf just so I have it out of my head. I will be carrying the next time I go to that spot! Had a nice buck coming tords my stand and was about 70 yards away, when one of the neighboring farms dogs chased a doe right in the direction that I was hunting and spooked off the buck. This is the 2nd time in 2 days that this exact thing has happened. I told the farmer who's land I hunt about it, and he said that he would talk to the guy about his dogs. I might try to hit this spot on Thursday, but I might just wait until Saturday morning when I can sit all day. The deer are starting to move pretty good out there, so I am pleased! This may be due to 90% of the cropsin the area being out now, but I'm thinking it maybe just because of the nearing rut. Good luck to the rest of you.

CONGRATS MN! that is an awesome buck!

Got out again today saw a spike buck in the morning play around my stand for bout 20 minutes and a pretty big bodied deer head into a corn field thats around 250 yards away from my stand, couldnt make out if it was a buck or a doe though. Then later that night had a button buck walk right underneath my stand. The deer seem to be moving, the weather was nice, but in my area there is still way too much corn up. Hopin the farmers cut it down soon. Fri will be the next time ill be goin out.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Went out last night. Had 8-9 does and three bucks come with 80 yds. The one buck was a beauty, looked to be in the 110-120 class. Called a few times, he just ignored it. Can't wait for tomorrow morning. Good luck Tim.

hey team sorry i havent put anymore pics on or wrote anything about. my brother put the pic on the official score card and i dont know how to do it. but for a short story i was sitting in my stand at about 5:35 last saturday and i decided i would rattle for just a bit. i rattled for porbably 30 seconds and quit for just a bit to see if i could hear anything and sure enough i could hear him running towards me. he came in up wind of me and was running until probably sixty yards from me. he then went to a walk and at twenty yards i was drawn back and gave him a couple of whistles to stop him and i let him have. i double lunged him and he went about 75 yards. that is the best buck i have ever shot and it was blast watching him come into the horns.

TJF-what part of north dakota are you from?

good luck to everyone and shoot straight

I am going crazy guys!! I can't hunt again till Saturday AM. I hate it when daylight savings time ends!! Right now I am working 4-10's on a job site, then I am working Friday and Saturday in the office!! I am trying my hardest to sneak in a day off this week, but so far it is not looking too good!!
Here is a little update for everyone on my from last weekend. Went outSaturday morning and was on stand by 6.Sat until 11:00 and saw 15 does, 0 bucks! Went home, watched the Iowa game (GO HAWKS), and went back out around 2:45 behind my parents house. Saw a decent 10 about 80 yards out,and he didn't respond to rattles, grunts, or bleats. Then saw a small button buck late in the evening. Haven't seen any rut activity as of yet.Good luck to everyone else!!

RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread

The bucks are moving here petty good. Last night was a windy so I stayed out of my good spots and found some trees to hunt. Pretty quiet but I expected that. Had one doe out of range and a young 3pt 35 yards out.

This morning was great. Saw 7 bucks with twocoming in15 yards from me. Young bucks so I passed. While I was dealing with the last buck, I saw ahuge bodied beast harrashing a doe. He went the other way after her. Good mass on him but by the time I could sneak a peek with the binos, he dissappeared behind a knoll and I never got another look. I might go after him tomorrow morning but it will be tough getting into that spot. I am pretty sure it is his main core area butwith the rifles coming out next Friday, I will push it cause this spot gets hit hard.

Heading out after lunch to another spot where I passed a really nice buck last year.I am pretty sure he made as thebuck that's been seen there fits him to aT, just a lot bigger !! :D I generally don't scout this spot as it is a no brainer for setting up and there usually is a good buck in there.

Goodluck to everyone!!

Tim
