RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
GOOD LUCK TIM!!!!!!
I hope a GIANT gives you a shot!!!! |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Oh man... That totally sucks.TellTyto look at the bright side - he'll get a good laugh out of that one for 10, 20 years. Well, he might not think it's funny, but everyone else will... LMAO Chit happens, you know. Hey, I "know a guy" who forgot his bow on opening day in 05. Talk about feeling stupid...
Tim - Your old lady probably had to throw out those lucky blue jeans b/c you looked so damngood in 'em that she just couldn't keep her paws off of you. My wife keeps throwing out all my good tightie whities, and I'm pretty sure that's why she does it too.:eek:[:-] |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Tim, I got excited when I saw the post about the ND buck... then saw it wasn't you guys.
I will not say anything about EVER forgetting something on a hunt... just ask Troy. |

Shane I've seen him twice in this same spot but never have the right wind to hunt right there. Actually found one of his sheds right there last spring. If we are going to kill him it will probably be in this spot. It is suppose to rain tonight or tomorrow.Iwill get the day off if it does. I get to hunt before work even if it doesn't but will be in a different area with the wind. If the wind stays the same and I get off from work, I think Tyler and I will gang up on him tomorrow evening. Since he seems to be letting the other bucks in the area know he is topdog... I will try a little rattling and grunting to get him worked up. Hopefully get him to go by Tyler if I setup30yardsor so away. Maybeeven get the 5x6 togo by also as he has really been edgy the last two times we have seen him this past week. We are running out of time as the waterfoul season will start this weekend for resident hunters. The following weekend the non-residents season starts. Once the duck huntersstart running all over, it will be tough to see an older buck during daylight hours. Our area really gets hammered hard but waterfoul hunters. [:'(] We are goingget very aggressiveand push ithard on account of it. I will bedoing some light rattling and grunting in the morning in this other area. Tim ![]() |

Texas, those were some pretty cool pics and videos.
Thats defenitely a nice buck! When does yer season start?? |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Well guys, I've been pretty busy the past couple of weeks between work, going to Vegas, and some waterfowl hunting. One more week, and I will be out in the trees!! Good luck to everyone else. One more thing... I used to be able to get on the forum while I was at work, but now I am at a job site in a trailer, and the factory won't give us full internet access. They think we are going to let out secret information. So I will only be getting on occasionally at night. Happy hunting!!

RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
We are getting closer !! Well not killing but at least getting within bow range of something bigger. Last night it was a bit breezy and light rain so I went still hunting/scouting. Got within 15 yards of a 2.5 year old 4 pt. About a half hour before dark I was working my way back and got careless. I rounded a corner of a sloughjust as a 135 - 140 class4 ptrounded the same corner. We had a 20 yard face off. [:o] I should have gotten into the cover instead of walking the edge. I knew better and messed up. But man was it fun !! :D
There are bigger bucks so notbummedon blundering. Still hunting was a nice change of pace and I enjoyed it. Plus it was too cold for the skeeters to be out. That was nice all in itself !!! Tim |

RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Good Luck boys!.....
Went bird hunting last weekend and i think we totaled (3 of us hunting) with 6 pheasant, 2 each and 25 ducks....unfortunately no greenheads...i was really hopin i would get a couple greenheads but the place was just crawlin with gadwals so those are mostly what we got....was really fun though! |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Bailey
Congrats on the pheasants and the Gadwalls !! Are you still hunting elk?? Tim |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Actually elk season ended last weekend so my 30$ tag was a waste......never even go to go hunt em a single time[&:]
But my local proshop owner tagged a 5x6 on the last day. They had pakced in 7 miles somewhere on the coast and got EVERYTHING on video, i hope i get to see it! Good Luck |

duck opener in minnesota was today. three other guys and myself made it out. we ended up shooting twelve but could only find nine of them. it was nice to back out in the slough. i hadnt been seeing many ducks around, but there sure were a lot flying around this morning. now hopefully i can just get out in the tree stand and try my luck there one of these days.
|
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Sounds Like fun Mn.....good luck
|
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
MN, you guys need to send all those northern ducks down a little south!! You can send the geese too!!
Tomorrow is the day for me fellas. I will only be taking a big buckand not any does this week because of the warmer weather. I get off work at 3:30, and I should be able to be in stand by 4:15! Can we say excited?! |

RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread

good luck everyone and shoot straight |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Thanks guys. I am pumped! I said before that I didn't have internet on this job site, but I got hooked up with DSL on Thursday. I have checked the weather multiple times for the wind, and the wind is perfect for my sweet spot. To aid in all of this, the farmers have been working hard all weekend harvesting their corn!! I went home on my lunch break and double checked to make sure that everything was good to go. Mainly went home to throw my hunting clothes in the dryer since I had to give them a scent free wash. 45 minutes from now, I am out like a boner in sweat pants!! Good luck to everyone else!!
Brett |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
LOL!!!!!
Good Luck!!!! Make TEAM 5 PROUD!!!! |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
GOOD LUCK Killin it and Grillin it
|
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Well, that was probably the worst opening day that I have ever had!! Saw 1 doe, and that is all. I am going to stay away from that area until rut starts up since there is so much corn in the neighboring properties still. I will just hunt behind my parents house until then. I usually see plenty of deer there!
This was my first time hunting on the ground in a natural type blind. I was not very comfortable. I think that it was because I was worried what would happen if I had a deer come withing feet of me.I kept thinking that I would ruin the hunting spot and such.On the bright side,I have an idea where I can stick a stand in there now. Brett |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Well guys, I didn't hunt on Tuesday because my girlfriend took me to dinner and such for my birthday. I did go hunting last night though. I hunted behind my parents house for the first time this season, and it was very exciting. I saw two does, and 3 bucks. I had shots on all of the deer except for one of the bigger bucks. The buck that I didn't have a shot at was probably somewhere around the 120's, but I am looking for something a little bigger than that. I just have fun sitting up in the tree and observing their behavior. All 3 of the bucks were rubbing on almost any tree that they could find, and they were in the area for about 45 minutes. I haven't decided if I am going to sit out tonight or not. It depends if my realtor (my aunt) has any housing appointments lined up for me tonight. Good luck guys!!

RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Hey guys, PA opener has passed, and I havent gotten out yet b/c of work. Only going to get to hunt wednesdays b/c of work and school so my hunting time is limited[:@]. Buttttt Im takin a week of vacain late october and early november :Dfor rutt. First time going out will be this wednesday to see whats moving.
Brett sounds to me like you got urself a pretty good spot. Good luck to you buddy. |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Brett
Glad you are seeing some good bucks behind your folk's place!! Happy belated Birthday. Nate Good luck with the tight schedule and getting time to hunt. If I don't have my buck I am also taking a week off the end of October and into November before our General Deer Season starts and everyone pulls out rifles for it. I didn't get a tag for that season so I will bow hunt it with my archery tag. I've got off the next 2.5 days. Hunt, hunt and more hunting is the only thing onmy agenda. They are talking rain so might get Sunday off as well. The duck hunters have pushed the deer into my honey hole now. Should be a good time if the bigger bucks move during daylight times. I would be out there now but waiting for the wind to switch to the east later todayto huntmy spot.Tomorrow it is also suppose to be fromthe east. I might pull an all day-er if I don't get rained out. Thisshould be a very good spot!! Good luck to everyone hunting. Tim |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Well sounds like you guys have some good spots!
Of course this would happen.....i shoot a good buck......but not huge...... and then i go to check my camera and low and behold guess who shows up..... Luckily i have a december tag and i can use rifle or bow.....for the first 10 days im defenitely hunting with bow and the last 5 (if i havent gotten this bad boy by then) ill use a rifle.......GOOD LUCK FELLOW RUT HOUNDS!!!!! ![]() |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
He may not see, like any GIGANTIC GIANT to you guys but its Blacktails here and thats it.........and this guy is one HUGE blacktail!
|
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
For a blacktail he looks gigantic to me!! Very nice picture to boot. You did us proud by taking your first buck. Would be great if you gotthis buckas well !! Best of luck with him!!
Tim |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Thanks Tim........BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!
|
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Thanks Tim! I got a better feel for which trails the deer are using down there now. I can see my ladder stand in the distance from my hangon, and each of the deer came into the property through the funnel that goes right by that stand! I hope to get out again this weekend, but I am not sure if it is going to happen. I just got a promotion yesterday, so that means work longer and harder!! Fortionately, my boss understands my addiction to hunting.
Tim, Have you been getting close to the deer that you want to take a poke at? Sounds like you are making more time to hunt now. Pat, Hope you get that buck too. I would be happy with the one that you got, especially with the velvet!! Shoot straight everyone! Brett |
RE: 5-Official Team Rut Hounds Thread
Kill it n grill it.......good luck man
Dont get me wrong I am overjoyed with my deer but since i have the tag i would love to stick em. |
