Ok guys.................so i get in my blind at 5:00 sharp...............at 6:00 a 6 or 8 comes in at 10 yards.........i wasnt sure of its size and i knew there were much bigger ones so i did not shoot. I woulda shot if i could get mul;tiple deer but in oregon you can only take 1 deer........it stinks. A little time goes by and i can herre the does feeding and some other bucks come in. The were over a knoll so i decided it would be worth it to sneak over and see. Almost immedaitely a beautiful 10 trots by at 30 yards. I make a grunt and stop him.............right behind a damn tree. I drew back but just couldnt get my pin on his vitals. I decided not to trya fancy shot and possibly would him because i know that i know ill have more oppurtunities at him. I saw one more shooter buck......... a nice 10 i just couldnt get him close enough. Bunch of little guys but i am gonna get one of the big uns for the team!

Ill see what i can do............. i have the whole next week off so i should be able to arrow one!

wow, that sounds like a pretty good first day to me. Good luck getting one of them big 10s. Im sure if you already had a chance at one there is plenty more opportunities to come at one of em.

I am jealous! I definately would love to have been out hunting already! I shot about 100 arrows today sighting in my new single pin sight. I love the thing! I can't believe that I have put off getting one for so long.
On another note, duck hunting is coming up soon... That is looking very promising this year!!!

hey bailey sounds like you had a good first morning. too bad you couldnt have got a shot at one of the dandy's though. when does your elk season start? hopefully you get your deer down before that starts up.

Our elk season started the same day deer season did!

And since that is a Colombian Blacktail we multiply the score by 1.39...see the Official Rules bringing the 86 2/8 to a score of 119 7/8...

Yep, thanks to you we are off to a great start!! I start hunting Friday afternoon. Hopefully I can add to our score soon after. :)

Boss said I could sneak out of work to get some hunting in this weekend. Got a big buck in mind that needs killing.

WEll, here in oregon your only allwed 1 tag in the general season and i made a stupid move and only put in or 1 draw tag. I got my tag and i coulda gotten 5 more. WEll atleast i know what to do for next year!

Tis the season!! :D I'll be heading out to hunt around 5 this afternoon. Was hoping to hunt a certain area but the wind is wrong. Plan B is a good spot also with a couple nice bucks roaming it. Didn't get to scout it out as well as I would have liked to but it is a very good area. There should be a big boy in there some place.

The pinto beans aren't quite ready to cut so I will at least get to hunt through Sunday night if the Boss doesn't go Gung Ho on me and decide to start early. Should get a lot of hunting in.I will also be taking the camera and should get some pictures of smaller to decent racked bucks to share with you guys.

Tyler is going after the 4x5 as the wind is wrong for his spot. He is going to take the camcorder/tri-pod as that is a more open area. He should have a good time in that area.

Well Tim, how did the first day go?! Hope you at least got to see something that you liked. I'm getting pretty darn jealous of you guys that have been able to start hunting already. I am going to put the finishing touches on all of my setupsthis weekend, so maybe I will get a better pattern on the two big boys that I am after. I will be happy with a better pattern on just one of them!!!

WellI saw a lot of Booner skeeters. Very quiet tonight. The does didn't start moving until sun down. Didn't even see a buck. [:'(] Was fun to be bow hunting though!!

I'll be hunting the same spot but farther in tomorrow morning waiting on this wind to change. Hopefully the deer will be moving better in the morning. They are talking close to 90 for temps so not expecting much to happen tomorrow night either.
