Your right Dave. I'm glad they moved it to 10/20. It's worth it to wait 1 more week for temps to drop and hunt the pre-rut.

Mike, I've never used those but I've heard good things about them. My brother in lawuses them and likes them.

Mark, its always good to see deer. Sound like the perfect spot when the rut kicks in.

Brad, I think you made the right choice. Better to take caution now and keep the bucks in your area then hunt longer one evening and lose a good buck with the rut around the corner. Also, you can talk about my momma all you want if you land that 130 for our team. LOL:D

Nathan, bring him home big guy. 2 days left!!!

Your 1st day looks like mine did. There's still plenty of time for that to change though.

I'm excited about tomorrow's weather. High of 49 in the morning with the wind out of the West. The stand I'm hunting should ahve thedeer come from the west out of the field. plus, it's supposed to rain tonight whgich should allow me to sneak in there.Wind will be 12-13 mph but I'm ok with that. the palce isdown a hillthat willbe slightly protected from the wind.

I bought the steps that are sold at Dicks' for $40 and they are pretty good. Definitely better than spending $100 for the same thing with a brand name on them.

Brad,

That's great news.I need to start finding someone with private land for next year. Hopefully, someone that will not require a lease.

U-2 make a great looking couple. Im still single no kids but want some someday. Hopeing someday to find a beautiful woman like yours. There's only one problem there's no girls here, and my job kinda keeps me from moving.

She dosent by chance have any single sisters or friends does she?;)

I dont know about you guys, but it really MAKES ME MAD that the frickin weather channel can't ever get the Wind Direction right.. I mean come on. They say one thing in the morning, you plan a hunt, 3 hours later they change it, you plan another hunt, then 2 p.m. rolls around and the wind is not what they say.. Can't they Get it FRICKIN RIGHT??

They cant get it right i agree. i have more faith in this site for wind speed and direction than the other weather sites. they dont have bessmer but ironwood should work.

Nice photograph Brad! I have not been on much lately.WOrk has been extremely busy and in the evenings I have been devoted to a lot of hunting preparation.I will be in a tree tomorrow morning. It is SHOW TIME! It goe's without saying that I am looking forward to it.In the morning I believe I will be in a tree that I have been very fortunate in in the past.It this property ever sells I will cry my eye's out.He is 89 years old,I don't think I will have this spot to hunt a whole lot longer.
There in the morning. In the afternoon I expect to have my nephew with me for his first ever archery hunt.In a different spot a couple of mile away.I was in there a week ago to set a second stand in the same tree for him.Two heavily used runways beneath the stand and a couple of fresh rubs. Now if the weather cooporates we will be in business.
Good luck to everyone this weekend! Be safe and have fun!!

Well guys, I didnt get one, but my 75 yr old father did.. Here's the pic..I sat with him last night, and didn't see much, but i did get a photo of the buck I'm after at my stand an hour after dark of course.. But I really think I know where he's coming from now... He looks likea GOOD buck.. I'd post the pic, but you really need to look hard to see his right side of his rack..

RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread

That young buck has some mass on him. Congrats to your dad, how great that must be to share that with him. As far as the other buck could you tell anything about his rack?

Nathan, it's here man. Have fun tomorrow.

Mathewsboy 10-13-2007 07:37 AM

RE: 19-Official Team Quiet Arrow Thread

No i really couldn't Only that he has 4 points forsure on his right side.. The second pic i got of him, makes rack look even bigger, but its so hard to see and blurry... We'll just wait until he's on the ground , then we'll judge his rack. How's that sound??

Can't argue with that. Nathan, was it great to be in the tree this morning?

Dave, how did yesterday go?

Good Morning everyone,
Had a good sit this morning.I saw 8 or 9 deer, seven I could identify as doe's or yearlings. Two of the deer I couldn't identify, they were at a distance of 90 to 100 yards and all I could see was them filtering through the trees. The squirrels had it raining acorns like I have never seen before. At one point I actually thought it was raining there was so many acorns coming down in the surrounding oaks.
It was a nice way to start the season.I will be back out this afternoon in a different location with my nephew. He wanted to come out this morning but I didn't think his first archery hunt should have him getting situated in a tree in the dark,I would rather have him be able to see his surroundings and do everything to get settled in day light.
Congratulations to your dad Brad! A great thing to be able to share!

Good afternoon. Nothing new with me. I havn't seen any bucks yet, but it's bound to happen soon.

Other great map resources are county gis maps. The one for my county has everything. It has satellite/topo, all the roads and such, with all property lines. It even tells you the owner, size, etc. of the property. Its a great tool for finding somewhere to hunt.
