I just found out today that I might not be able to hunt the 55 acre farm this year. That stinks cuz now I dont know where I am going to hunt besides my little 3 acres behind my house. Hopefully things turn out good

Just hunt it if the wind is right. I messed up on one of the biggest bucks of my lifetime on 2 1/2 acres. Shot at him and hit a barb wire that was 6 inches above the fence. He had the nerve to be cocky and sniff the arrow before he took off. I was only 8 feet in the air too. [:@]

I had a small patch of woods behind a house I was renting back home. I had permission to hunt it and killed a few does. I got in on a lease with my buddies on a great farm that was 350 acres, so I concentrated all of my efforts on that place. Gun season rolled around and a guy I worked with had lost his spot to hunt, so I told him to go ahead and hunt behind my place. Wouldn't you know it, he ended up killing a monster 10pt. that scored 186" B&C. I drove 20 miles to our lease to pass up numerous bucks and shoot a doe. He hunts right behind my house and kills a brute. Don't let small acreage fool you. Hunt it right and it could pay off.

Tony, I think your mistaken, it is time for..................................:D

Brett, I'm more concerned with the regular season too but I'll take any chance I can find to rib someone over a football game.;) As far as the rings go everyone always likes to bring that up. However, it's usually selective. If the past matters that much than let Bradshaw take the snaps again. Besides, the Eagles did win their championships but they didn't call it the "super bowl" so I guess that means it doesn't count:D:D

I appreciate the ribbing as much as anyone, that's what makes this time of year so fun. We Steelers fans have to grasp at something with a new coach who has "limited" experience at best and a very unpredictable quarterback. Not to mention the inability to even provide marginal pass coverage in any way, shape, or form. All that being said, I have stuck with them for 35 yrs. and will for as long as I'm around. If you are feeling froggy about Sunday's game, I would be happy to take the same bet offered to Tony. The only thing I ask is that when you are packing up my Steelers hat, you make sure not to drip any tears on it.;)

thanks for the kind words. That buck wasn't nothing compared to alot ive seen but he sure was special to me. I killed him on my cousins 13 acres which is crawling with deer. Between the two of us, we have killed 5 out of there in the past 3 seasons. The 6 point i killed last year wasn't on any trail cam pics for the past 3 years. He just seemed to show up right behind me right before dark one day. Funny how the deer that you get a lot of pics of and follow for a couple of years never seem to turn up during the season but you kill one you have never seen before.

Thought I'd finally play along and get a picture of myself up here. This is from early spring this year. We found this buck dead on the farm we lease while looking for mushrooms. It is the most recent one I have. I'm a little camera shy for obvious reasons.;) I just noticed the date says today, I pulled it off our camera tonight, but it was taken in April. I'm a little technologically challenged.

Tony-Thanks! I haven't really scored him, but to give you an idea, the inside spread is 21", G2's&G3's are 9" and 8" respectively on both sides.

Jenna & nubo, Thanks for the kind words. I really wish he would have made it to this season, but I am happy we found him. Jenna, I can't believe your season starts so quickly, ours doesn't start until Oct. 1. Keep us posted on how it's going. Nubo, I'm sure my man Tony will do just fine on a buck this year. Heck, if he connects once under pressure, he'll be doing better than his beloved Favre. Good luck to you and your team as well, you will need it going up against our group.;)

On a different note, I just got back from moving stands. Boy, is it HOT and DRY. We need rain in a big way. I managed to walk through a fresh hatch of ticks and my wife had the pleasure of picking over 200 tiny, pin head size ticks off of me.[:'(] We did see alot of sign and things are looking promising. I still have a good bit of work to do before season gets here.

Ewticks Ihate them stinkin' things. I think that is probably the one animal that this world could do without. I think we might have a good chance of scoring high in this contest. Who knows...??:)I think the season starts kind of early too but south carloina has been in season for about 2 weeks now. We are supposed to be getting some cooler weather and rain soon which we definitely need, we have had 3 days of 100 degree temperature and we are 10 inches behind in rainfall. Very very dry here.

id like to have this deer removed but i was told no! by my grandpap who runs the ground an hes old school an dont understand it by takin it out of the herd.. the rules are 6 pt or better he says hes not a 6pt he cant be taken[:@]

I am going to post a good article from Deer & Deer hunting about
harvesting deer either by age or antler restrictions. This article states you should harvest more on age. I will post this tomorrow.
