Awesome Jenna! That is very cool. You should be very proud of yourself, that is not an easy thing to do. Give us some details, how far was the shot, were you in a treestand, or on the ground, how far did it go after you hit it, etc. Good job!

Ya'll have a fall turkey season? Thats cool. Good shot by the way. OK....new rule. Nobody can post anything about their hunts until OCT15 when my season opens. Just kidding. I love to hear the stories. Just wish i could participate. Happy hunting.

Ya we have a fall turkey seaosn here. You can kill 4 but only 2 can be killed with a bow, and only one can have a beard and then the other one you have to kill with a shotgun if you want to fill your tag.

I was deer hunting and the turkeys have been in our woods taking dust baths for like a month so i figured I would try and take one. I waited and they showed up but the first time they seen me drawing back my bow and left. Couple hours later they came back and i drew back before they came in and I put the pin on theturkey and shot it. It flew like 4 feet from where i hit it. I was excited. It was the first thing I killed with my bow!

Jenna, that's awesome and you did what many archers have not done and that is taking a turkey with archery gear. Congratulations, now I look forward to you shooting your first whitetail with your bow.

Some big number on the board already. Jenna, no pressure, but you are the only one that can hunt. J/K. Still just under a month and a half before I can hit the stands. On the flip side of that, I can hunt until the last day of January.

Hey thanks Guys. I have been seeing some awesome deer around here. I seen 2 big bucks that would proabably score 150-160. They are monsters and they just shed their velvet so their antlers were all bloody when I seen them. Hopefully I can get one to come in.

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

Jenna-Hope one of those big boys comes by and gives you a shot.

I posted this in the bowhunting forum, but thought I would throw it up here as well. We found this one dead on our lease yesterday. These dry/hot conditions are sure taking their toll. It's cooler today and we are supposed to get rain the rest of the week, we need it!

KYDeerHunter03 09-05-2007 12:37 PM

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

That is a shame about that buck. I have been seeing a lot of skinny unhealthy looking deer and I hope we get some rain soon. If we end up having a hard winter I think a lot of animals are gonna die. They just dont seem like they have had the right amount of nutrients they needed to store up fat for the winter. This drought is killing everything!

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

My dad and cousin said they have been seeing all kinds of deer lately. Hopefully the dry conditions havent hurt things too much but it sounds like it has. I hate to hear that.

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

Man I just had typed a nice long play by play of the season so far and the site lost its marbles or something!
Anyhow so far I've had shots at about 12 bucks with 4-5 in that 135-145 mark. I'm after a very large buck that should go 165-175 but he got big for a reason and I'm haveing one heck of a time patterning him!
I got this guy on camera yesterday so I knelt in an ant pile up by that brush in the upper right for two hours till first light this morning and then he and 4 does and two smaller bucks walked on thru. It felt good to hunt on the ground one on one again, haven't done that for a while! But the ants drove me nuts crawling all over me but at least they didn't bite!
I hope he can make it another year or two, he's got allot of potential. Maybe his daddy will show up soon!
Almost got me an antelope this morning thou, got to within 65 yds and he busted me. I swear they have eyes in the back of their heads!!

Good luck team!

This is kind of cool, I have my son hunting this high racked buck, the other evening he came through but it was to dark for a shot.
He told me last night that he thought it was the buck he had passed up last year so I got some photos out. What do you guys think, I say it's the same deer. Here he is in 05,06 and 07 "bottom photo".

Wow those are some nice bucks, I think it may be the same deer but who knows. I am going out early tomorrow and getting in the stand. There has been a couple nice bucks taken out of my county this year so far and I am pumped!!! Sorry I keep repeating myself but its the truth:)Here are a couple that were taken near me this week.

MdDave 09-07-2007 01:24 PM

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

treehunter 09-07-2007 03:36 PM

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

Im also in agreement that they are all the same bucks. Jenna, those are some nice pics. Ya'll have some monsters up there. It is very rare to see any like that down here in north alabama. I'm just hoping to score on one.

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

I am so aggervated. My dad is going to ruin my hunting area[:@]I work so hard to be scent free and keep all my clothes and stuff outside and spray all kinds of scent killer on everything.

This morning I find him sitting in my stand!!![>:]He is going to ruin it. He doesnt even use scent killer and he leaves his clothes in his bedroom just sitting there. I dont want to tell him cuz he will get mad, but I really wish he would stop. So needless to say I couldnt hunt this morning[:@]

He even goes out in my stand and just sits in it without camo or anything, and I am just worried that the deer will just stop coming because his scent is always there!!!!!!

MdDave 09-08-2007 05:14 PM

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

tell em...say ya damn ol man ur screwin up my spot go find somewhere else to stink up so u dont see ne deer.....lol....i kinda had the same proablem with a unlce last year but i couldnt say much cause they've all taken me huntin an helped out sence i was knee high to a grasshooper. so what do ya say? i finally got aggravated last year an told him iwas gonna move the stand cause i wanted to put it somewhere else an he quit usin it. lol.. ah well

RE: 38 - Official TEAM 38 Thread (Rack Em Up)

That sucks. Yeah, you really cant say much to your old man. Maybe it will work out for the best though. Keep your head up. On a college football note, the Tide won game 2 yesterday. So far with the losses of some of the "good" teams, this season is really shaping up to be a good one.

TEAM Rack Em Up just a voice of concern foe your safety.

Once all yer seasons start I hope that you all do wear yer back belts because I am worried that yer backs are gonna get real tired of carrying FRALEY.

LMAO, check your team thread buddy

5575gb 09-09-2007 12:25 PM

He got him!

Just thought I'd let you know that my son was able to arrow that buck last evening. The shot was a little far back and the arrow didn't smell the best so we left him over night. Found him this morning at first light, he'd only went 75 yds with a quartering away shot thru the liver with a 4 blade muzzy.
Here he is, photo turned out cool with the sunrise, fog and frost this morning!
Good luck to you all!
"ps this was the buck he'd passed on last season in the other pics"

RE: He got him!

Thanks guys, I passed on that guy in hopes that my son could get him.
I thought he'd gross 145ish. I put the raculator to him and got 150 3/8 gross. He's my boy so I might have went a little deep on some but not much;)! Main beams were 24 and he had a couple wraps that were 5", longest tine was 9 1/2,inside spread was 17 1/2so it added up a little more than I thought.
I suppose he's a solid 149ish gross thou for sure. 150 has a nice ring to it thou!:D
Thanks again
Nothing better than a gutpile on a glorious sunny morning!
