Yes, a buddy of mine got him on video right before season started. He was seen a couple of times during season, but never close enough to shoot.

i tend to agree with the age an not restrictions but your not gonna tell a 67 year old man anything new... hes gonnna run it the way he sees fit an be a stubborn ol man about it.. lol.... cant argue with him though. lol

I agree on harvesting by age and not antlers. The deer in the picture is small but he is just a yearling. I have seen spikes grow into enormous deer. Now if you seen a 3.5 year old buck sporting 4 points ya I would get him out of the herd. But I am just a kentucky hunter. People here dont even care how big it is, their motto is "if its brown its down" lol

Jenna hit the nail on the head in regards to age not antlers. My buddy works on a high fence preserve and while it's not my cup of tea as far as the hunting goes, I have learned alot about antler development and age. I was taught by the guy who got me started deer hunting that every spike should be taken out because it will never grow into anything else. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I have seen bucks on that preserve start as spikes and end up as giant B&C deer. If they haven't grown into what you are looking for by the age of three, potential wise, than they should be removed from the heard. Before that, it is hard to say what they will become.

I would shoot a hoyt butI dont have that kind of money to spend on a bow. My browning shoots pretty good and I am pleased with it. Whenever I get tired of it though I have a guy who is wanting to sell me a Hoyt protec for $350, are those any good?

I would really like to get one to, when will we be able to??

I went out and shot my bow from my stand yesterday and it is shooting so good. I was hitting bullseye everytime with 1 inch groups! I was so happy.:D

Also I was thinking about something the other day and let me know if you guys think its dumb. All of our soldiers that half to stay in Iraq and dont get to hunt this season will probably be kind of bummed out. (I know there are more important things than getting to hunt, but I just wanted to try and get people to give back to the soldiers somehow.) I was wanting to see if we can get some outfitters to donate some free hunts to the soldiers when they get back.

I dont know how I could do it, but I just thought it would be really cool to try and get something together. Do you think its a bad idea??

Jenna I think that would be a great idea but the logistic of it would be tough. I've seen show now that have taken wounded vets hunting.

Well, to tell you the truth, this is a political war. In my opnion, what goes on directly reflects some congressmanspolitical standto help them get to the next level in their career. The military is held back by the rules of engagement set forthbecause issome inosentlocal gets killed during a gun battle that looks bad on election day.Our military trains the Iraqi army and police and they are as lazy as they come. The only real "law" here is thetowns militia. Its sad to say, but the only kind of government a country like this can survive with is a dictator like Sadam Hussein. Someone to rule the people with an iron fist and make them afraid to anything without permission. Anyways, didn't mean to rant. Jenna, that sounds like a good idea with the outfitter hunts. That would be very cool for the ones that could participate. Again, thanks for the support everyone. And looking forward to the shirts.

ONLY 2 MORE DAYS!!! Lol:DBow season is coming up. I went out to my stand the other day and there was deer all around it. I am so pumped. I found out we get to hunt that farm now so thats exciting, we are going to scout it sometime this week. Hopefully we see some.

No scouting reports to give you. The area where I hunt the deer have been traveling for 1000's of years so I know where they are so I don't scout much. I've been shooting quite a bit and I'm ready to rock but still have to wait 45 days.

LOL...I KNEW that was coming. I haven't been online since then. Like you said, it was preseason and the steelers did look good. I think the Eagles will do just fine in the regular season though.;)

I'm just giving you a hard time. I think your Eagles will do much better during the regular season than my Steelers. Big Ben still didn't impress me a whole lot, the pass coverage was miserable, and special teams looked pathetic. Given the circumstances, I will be happy with a 8-8 season.:(

I've been out glassing and scouting, hanging stands and checking cameras.
Finally found a big mature 170ish class buck last sunday, so I set up a camera and a stand. Guess we'll see what happens!

Thanks guys. Bow season opens tomorrow morning and I have been seein some good deer and turkeys. I might not get me a buck but im ready to stick an arrow in something. I want my first bow kill!!:)

Its official.... I have a plane ticket out of the pits of hell on Sep 14. Im flying from Kuwait City to Bangladesh then to Chicago then to Huntsville, AL. Cant wait. I have a lot of shootin and scouting to do when i get home. I hear the temps have backed off some so thats good. I hope this ultra hot weather hasn't affected deer at all. Anyways, im excited

I know this aint a deer but i killed my first turkey tonight wiht my bow. I was proud even though its small. but it had a lot of meat on it.
