RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread

Hey guys and gal I need help picking a week in Oct or Nov to take off for hunting here in KY. I was supposed to be off next week but the grandmother of one of my guys passed away tonight and he is going to be out most of next week. Since there's only three and a half of us on second shift ( one trainee), I didn't want to leave my other guy there basically alone. Don't really want to wear hunter orange so maybe not November 10 - 25 (modern gun season). Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated !

I would pick out a couple of weeks before the gun season hits! If you know or can pin point- when the bucks are hot and heavy in rut pick then. In my neck of the woods they go into rut pretty heavy about the end of Oct to mid November it might be a little different there than it is here. Thats just my opinion. When does it start to cool down there?

I concur with huntinlady,

First 2 weeks in Nov have always been good to me.

I have killed 4 bucks on the last weekend in Oct also.

Troy since you like my camo pictures here is me in Enigma

Rob,

I thought your acreage was private? If it is only you hunting on it, you might want to focus on
hunting the rut even if during gun season. The deer will be moving and the gun hunters might
push deer on your relatively unpressured property. Just a thought.

Germ,

You sponsoring a camo fashion show? BTW, Sitka shows off your figure better. :D

Waiting on an update from Troy about how he slayed a monster buck.

Can't wait to get out of the office and get in the woods this weekend. Got a lot to do.

I am camo junkie, next will be my Rhino Gear[:-] Being it is only 8:11 in Idaho, we will have to wait a bit

Will, The hunters pushing deer to my property has crossed my mind.Public or private, I thought the hunter orange law still applied. My property is posted but someone may choose to ignore the signs. Better safe than sorry:)

Thanks guys and gal for the suggestions. I think that first full week of November may be good.

RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread

Just browsed some other state laws and see that some have hunter orange exceptions for bow hunters, hunting from tree stands, etc. Kentucky seems to be hunter orange without exception.

give him a break, at this point its only shortly after 8. With any decent walk out he's probably just getting in, then he gotta eat, easy fellers.

So uh, let's go man, we're waiting;)[8D]

I seen a pretty nice one in my main area tonight. He was already shed of velvet, and I'd put him at mid 140's, he's a clean 5x5. Not real wide but long sweeping main beams.

Just got back from the Dove hunt at the place mobo scouted out. I sure hope he is better at scouting deer than he is at Doves. Mobo got 2 His buddy Dave got 1 and I was 0 for 3. Not much flying in that sunflower field. I think the Doves checked their calender this morning too.

WHAT, still no word from Troy.[:o]We better send out a search party!!!

OK, I think I am ready for the IL season to start now. Went out there this morning and retrimmed some old shooting lanes. And trimmed up a few new setups too. Probly stay outta there till I hunt it Oct. 1st. Unless I set up a camera somewhere before the season starts.

Less than 2 weeks till the MO opener. Sept. 15th, can't wait!!

I am headed over to the big house at lunch to pimp slap Llyod Carr[:'(]

We have lowered are MI flag at work today, it's that bad. Ann Arbor is still in shell shock.

Last year when USC came off the field and said "We knew exactly what they were goingto do" fine, but when App State says the same thing, we have some issues:eek:

I have been a supporter of Lloyd Carr, but a reporter said it best when he said "the games has passed by Lloyd Carr"

Hey is that coach from App State looking for a Job:D

Germ,

I heard rumors you guys are interested in Les Miles. He is a Schemblecher protege.

Anyway, I feel for ya, it's a tough way to begin the season.

I have chiggers and poison ivy this morning thanks to my weekend efforts. Just thought you guys
should know that. :D

BTW, where's Troy?

Didn't see any deer Monday or Tuesday morning while hunting. Of course as the wife and I took a walk Monday afternoon there was a little 6 pointer off to the side of our gravel road and yesterday afternoon as I got in my truck to go to work there was a big doe about 60 yards away in the side yard.[:@]

RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread

Hey Guys,

Dang its been hard to get in here for a couple days. No kills to report here and I apologize for not stopping in over the Labor Day weekend. Just really busy here hunting with my brother and then visiting with family that came up to stay with us.

Had some close calls over the past 6 days of bowhunting and some very slow days too. Battled the heat and a nasty lightening thunder storm that literally blew me out of my stand..first time in a long time I've been a little concerned for my health, but Imade it out..

Ok quick update on hunts.. I've hunted 5 different stands in 6 days. I didnt see the big 4x5 until Sunday... he finally made an appearance about 100 yards up on the mountain from where I was set up. Of course he came out under another one of my stands. My brother and I both had younger bucks under us two different times. I had 20 elk come by one afternoon and Rob had 25 on another right under his stands. Small bulls and cows. The big group Rob was over had a big bull in it but he stayed back in the timber till dark.

I am hunting again this evening and havent and dont plan on missin a day of whitetail huntinguntil Hiawatha gets here on the 14th for elk.

I hope everyone is getting geared up and ready to go. Maybe tonight will be the night, I have a perfect southwestern wind and I will perched along the top of a big mountain ridge saddle...

Take care guys and again I am sorry for not getting in here sooner, I actually did a few days ago...posted a reply here and as I posted it my computer here at work lost the connection breifly. I didnt have time to repost until last night after hunting and work and the site was down..

Its been great hunting, I've seen 3 bears, several small bucks over 100 elk ...via glassing from stands etc.. and 3 good bucks.. so far.. including the big 4x5..
