RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Gary, what kind of a headlamp do you use on your NIGHT OPPS? Be safe bro! You're hardcore..ive slept all night in my lounge for those same kinds of reasons... That is hardcore there. Not there yet. :D My plan is to go back down South on my family land and hunt Friday afternoon and as much as I can this weekend. I put together the crib (it's no swing palace) and worked on the baby room this weekend. I am corrected on that one stand on the youth hunt- they saw 19 deer (not 15) within 150 yards (I'm sure some were the same). I'm going to try to switch things up and hunt that CRP (or the 8 acres of woods to the North). All the frickin deer are in there - and it is so thick with briars you can't walk and no stinkin good trees. We've cut a bunch of trails in there and have one unhunted tripod next to a nice buck's core area. It is due North of where we kicked him up bedding, but unfortunately the wind will be out of NE, so not sure if I'm going to do that (maybe if out of the East). I also want to get in that spot I talked about many moons ago and hunt a climber. I haven't yet because it was so hot, the wind was bad and the stand closest hasn't been good this season. The food plots are also finally taking off (after 1.5" rain) which should also be bringing in some deer from adjoining woods and increasing the activity. We found out why our regular canal crossings have been so bad for deer sightings (after setting up a couple nice stands [:@]). The cattle rancher across the canal (where a lot of deer were bedding) was never serious about deer hunting, which was cool. Well now he (really his sons) obviously are b/c they put some big food plots on the other side of the canal. So we aren't pulling in the deer from across that canal like we have in the past. Maybe when they start shooting, those previously unpressured deer will decide they like our side better. [8D] With this baby coming I don't know how many more good opportunities I will get until later in the season. Good luck guys. Is that enough for you Troy? :D |

Will, when is the baby due? Your second child???
Man I remember those days when Jess was 2 and Ty was born.. holy moly my free time was tight! Well guys I got a little distracted last night on my walk to my stand...I took an old skid trail up through a saddle that I havent been on since last March.. while shed hunting it... anyway.. I am walking in and first I see a bobcat jogging up the trail about 50 yards in front of me..sure it busted me and was taking off. I know there is no way in heck I am gonna get a bowshot off on it..so I just keep on walking..then I come across this big elk shed laying right off the side of the skid trail> I about fell over.. Instantly I am thinking man how did I miss that then I remember I didnt cover that trail in ELK shedding season..only whitetails much earlier.. So I take my pack off and lay the bow down and have to make a decision..scurry up to my stand for about 1 hour of hunting or shed hunt! I chose to shed hunt.. Didnt find the other side but was stoked to find this one, I will definately be looking again this weekend... This is by far the biggest shed I have found from an elk or seen on a bull out where I live.. I sure he made this hunting season! If he did, theres a really good chance he will come back to this mountain come winter and shed somewhere.. Jeff how did the b-day Go? Anyone else get to hunt last night! |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread

RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Troy, that is a beastly shed. You gonna run out of room!
Second daughter is due early-mid December (a little over a month). Also have a daughter who is almost 17 months - she misses daddy on his hunting trips. Here's a pick of her in her get-up for tonite. She doesn't know what is going on, but I guess her grandparents do! ![]() I picked a bad year to get a real serious case of deer hunting fever. I already gave up golf, drinking beer after work, watching a lot of sports (except LSU and Saints), just to try to make time. |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
No hunting for me on on this day for awhile. It's OK
LB thank god she looks like her mother:D, she is a little cutie. You know my son Zach is 20 months old right now, he digs southern chicks. |
RE: 43- Official Team Chaos Thread
Why I oughtta.
He'll get the shotgun totin speech!FYI, Yankees must pass a more rigorous exam and are inherently suspect. ![]() Yes, she is a cutey. They are already standing in line. :D Actually her mom is brunette, olive complexion and green eyes (italian). She looks more like my mom, and thankfully not like the men in her family. Did you like my Les Miles comment on your buck post? [8D] I gotta get back to work! |
