RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!

Team #40

I gotta say I had 3 of us looking for 6 hours today ,all to no avail[:@]. We found blood and quite a bit for the 1st 60 yards ,then at anintersection of 3 major trailswe lost all sign as the blood completly stopped. We all looked on different trails back and forth and criss cross through out the bush.
We were down on our hands and knees lifting leaves for 40 yards all around where the last blood was seen. . You know what ,I don't feel bad about the loss either[>:],I can't believe I just said that.I'm actually not feeling bad about the shot either. I either had a completepass through, but no arrow was foundor he still has the arrow in him. We found a tuftt of hair about 2inches where the hair was cut and no blood. I'll have to leave this area for a week at least as we laid down some human scent all through out the bush. It's a 40 acre parcel and we covered it all. Some awsome scrapes we found that showed up over night and the bush is litterally shredded from rubs. In all the years I have hunted,I have never seen the bush beaten up like this is.. Looks like it could be awsome for the rut,I just hope we haven't pushed every animal away for to long. SO I won't hunt now till Tuesday night. That's bow hunting guys,I'm sorry I didn't recover the animal, but we didn't find any sign of it being hurt to bad ,so maybe he'll live to walk another day. Maybe ,just maybe he'll be buzzard food too[:'(]. Keep your heads up guys,we'll start laying them down soon enough. Ouch.
Rocky.

same thing happened to me and my friend last year he shot a buck that weighed easily 275. he shot it good and everything we tracked it for hours and never found the deer we saw him running around later when we were tracking but never recovered him.there was blood everywhere. we had 3-4 dogs even a ranger like 5 people and we tracked for over a mile and never found him or saw him again.i think the bucks will do absolutely everything possible to fight their death. even if they suffer

Thanks for the support, that's what team support is all about. I'm justpraying it's not the monster that came onto the field 40 yards away from me and circled and came back from my blind side. He was 180 plus and 400lbs on the hoof.I actually had to pick up my binoc's top see if he wasn't a moose.[&:]. Good luck guys ,can't wait to get buck up in the saddle tomorrow.

well guys, im not proud of this, but i shot and lost a doe this morning. She was only 7 yards away, and at that angle, I didnt realize that I didnt have the clearance, and my bottom cam hit the side of my ladder stand. I hit her extrmely high, and tracked her for 400 yards, and actually saw her standing/bedding in a field 75 yards away, licking the wound. I didnt have my bow ( went onto a neighbors property tracking), and i dont think i could have gotton much closer anyways, as she was on full alert. im 99.9% sure she'll recover, but im still sick. I'm going to take a day or two off and recharge the hunting batteries, then I should be back at it, this time, anytime that ladder is use, i'll be standing 100% of the time.

Don't let it get the best of you bud, I didn't , were human and feelings are part of life. God granted us that, thank you Lord. Well I believe it'll be a week to today that the rut will kick in hereas the bucks are starting to nose the does around in the last few days here. Hopefully we can start putting some numbers up to mach or better our team mate Jerry. By the way Jerry good on ya bud for getting the score up,again Congrats to you.Sounds like were all getting ichy fingers, that's a good thing,so lets get back at her and doing what comes best to us at this time of year, putting deer on the ground.Animation ,gotta love it huh! Hey Guys
Got into my stand by 4 today and never heard wisper till 6:05, I had just finished rattling and laid the antlers down and saw the whitetails up,they were off. Busted I guess, dang well not 10 minutes later I saw the dark colour of a moose in the bush and she was coming my way. Clipped on my trigger release and stood and waited, and waited, and waited. Twenty minutes and the time was running out on light fast. SHe started to come again ,but only a few steps. Then outa of a tree stand 70 yards away my parner decides it was dark enough and he was climboing down out of his stand.
You know what happens next HUH ! Dang partners eh! flippin cow takes of in the other direction. That's bow hunting,LMAO bin saying that a lot lately. You's hunting Wednesday be safe and Happy Holloween to you's. I'll be out again come Thursady night. Gotta finish cleaning the yard up before the snow comes Friday.

Josh

Keep your head up. If one does not feel bad when that happens they should not be hunting. 2 years ago I shot a large buck trailed blood for about 200 yards then it stopped. I searched for 2 straight days looking for him. I was litterly sick from it, could not eat or anything. I still think about it everytime I am heading out to hunt. Keep your head up your time will come.

I did not see a thing this morning. Will be going back out in a little bit. Wish me luck.

Nice Buck there. I went out tonight and saw a nice buck on the edge of a field. Bad thing is I was on a piece of property that I can't Hunt only take pictures. I had my girlfriend with me as well so I was just glad she was able to see some deer. Tomorrow I am going to the management property where my buddy shot the 12 and 9 pointer already this year. I am set up on a couple of scrapes so I am hoping for some good luck.

Nice buck bud, looks like he could go in the 150's,but then again I haven't got anything to compare size in the picture with.If I had a bow or a hand I could tell you for sure within inches. Don't be passin this buck if he walks by,LOL. Andy good luck on your next hunt, sounds like the deer are active in your neck of the woods.

That's a nice looking buck. I don't think I'd pass that one up! Where did you get all the apples? The early frost was real hard on mine this spring. I've only been out two days and saw a doe and fawn. Guys are starting to see some good bucks around here so it must be about ready to break loose. I've got a week of vacation left that I'll probably use soon for some bowhunting. Good Luck guys.

RE: 40- Official TEAM 40 Thread!

Boy oh Boy

Had my best night on stand tonight, just becuse I needed to take out a seat to fix. This stand is ole reliable.I go to it when I neat meat,IE The Meat Stand, well I just finished rattleing at 5:10 and along the far fencline I hear the crunching of leaves. I grab the binocs and ,wowzer ,great deer I say. Up on my feet and grab the bow,man he had great mass I mustsay, I grunt softly and he jumps the fence and heads my way, well between him and I is a thick maze of willows.
Ten minutes later I hear him making scrapes, then from behind me I hear the sound of leaves crunching again, I'm ready with bow in hand and trying not to budge and look. Then below through the stand bottom I see antler,he's looking to see where the buck was that was justfighting. Scent-loc ,you have to have faith cause this buck came in from downwind of me. It's almost dark now and still have some time to make a shot but decide to pass as he's like maybe a 140ish buck. He walks the whole area keeping me on alert the whole hour he was around making scrapes. This buck actually did a complete loop around my stand looking up at me probably 20 times in the hour. Then from the original scrape I see bodies attending the scrape from the other side.
Two deer bigger than the 1st are enlarging the scrape with dirt flying in all directions above the willows too. Man what a site. It's too dark now to shoot and it's dark at 6:10. Well I finally got to come out at 7:40. What a guy will do for a deer. I'm starting to enjoy being on stand again guys. The majic time is almost upon us guys. Be alert and be safe. God Bless.

I found it interesting not to see a spike even with the does. Back out again tomorrow night ,then Wednesday off and then it's 2 solid weeks of sunup to sundown onstand, yahoooo. Can't wait. Well I got in my climber at about 15 after 3 and within 15 minutes I see a doe going through the woods. She was by herself with nothing following her. As I sit there the wind is moving around pretty good. At 4:35 a doe and fawn come into my shooting lanes. I watch them for about 20 minutes. It is amazing how much calmer deer are when they are not over corn. Now to the more exciting part of my evening. At about 5:15 I see a shooter coming through the woods at about 45 yards. He looks to be an 8 maybe larger but he is going away from me. I grunted, rattled and estrous blat to no aval. He just keep on going. Man I was shaking like a baby's rattle. It took me 30 minutes to stop shaking. This was the first time I have seen a good Buck with my bow in my hand and I was excited. Then disappointed because I did not get a shot. I will however be back after him. Wanted to share my evening with everyone because I was sure excited. I will be out every afternoon the rest of the week and weekend trying to get me one.

Good Luck everyone.

Wind has been killing me here in western NY,constantly changing. I have passed on small bucks 10-12 times now. Finally had my big one come in at dark, bow was allready on the ground below my treestand. It was nice to at least see him because up until then he was just a rumor everyone was telling me about. He is a 150 + buck, dark rack with real good mass. Things are starting to pick up, I found my first scrapes last weekend. Snowed here today but none stuck, to close to Lake Erie. Farther away from the lake there is 4-6 inches of snow on the ground. I will be hunting the rest of the week I hope. I still need to pop a doe for the freezer too.

Rocky

I don't think the does are ready yet here either. My buck was by himself yesterday and was traveling in the opposite direction of the does on Tuesday. Keep at it you'll get a shot. I'll be out tomorrow afternoon trying for another one. I know there are some bigger deer in there cause my 10 pt yesterday was the first buck off of the property in 3 years. It was not hunted much the past two years.

Good Luck guys. Lets go stick some.
