rob you got my heart beating with that story!! thats the second time you fooled me..sayin he was by your stand..but he was by the OTHER stand lol. so close...youll get one of them before long..

germ....good luck with the youth hunt and next week.

im sleepin in in the morning. just dont feel like gettin wet..and i wont shoot if its pouring anyways. supposedly going to clear up by 10am. i should be waking up right around then...then ill do some running around...chiropractor(shoulders better if you guys remember that...but man i feel like 100000 bucks when im walking outa there!) head to the farm and talk to my farmer friend..then go back to my stand and retrieve all the flagging tape, my arrow, and my scent wicks. then im going to head to a new stand. dont know what one but before monday evening me and the farmer were thinkin of some more to try out. ill probably hunt the old stand again. just not tomarrow after i stomp around picking up the flagging tape. gunna measure the arrow and see just how much is still in him..and hopefully i can find a few clumps of hair i took off of him to see if we cant figure out where it came from.

good luck guys....your all close....i dont know if ill get another shot. its kinda rare for me to see a shooter buck...let alone mess up a shot like that. live and learn. hopefully ill get another chance. still gota hunt the buck up at school. just hope this weather clears up......

well today was the day i been dreading. i knew it was coming. my buddys that helped me search for my buck told our other buddys...long story short hes a MONSTER record breaking 10pt...and i suck at shooting. oh well i know the truth. i aint lettin it get to me. actually gunna gear up here shortly and go talk to the farmer, retrieve my arrow and 400yds of tracking tape and probably take stand somewhere else for the evening. gota see what this nutty weather does. i dont feel like sittin in gale force winds or a washout rain. see what happens.

funny how when word spreads parts get ADDED to the story. the kid i was just talking to was just busting my balls about being a crappy shot. but i know from what he was told that it is a MONSTER lol. i never let that word come out of my mouth..said it was a nice one and a shooter..but man..by rifle season hes gunna be a 40pt elk with moose antlers....oh well lol.

Welcome to bowhunting in this fine Commonwealth, Mauser. People will exaggerate, lie, and twist the truth to make themselves look better and make you look like a fool. Some of it is driven by greed, some driven by jealousy or just plain old fashioned whale's tales. If you see a nice buck - you may come to find out later that it was a MONSTER buck. If you see five deer, you may come to find out later that "Ol' Mauser's beenin a real hotspot, he's been seeing like 10-20 deer a day." If you make a good shot, it's probably because you "got lucky," or you were hunting on "PrivateProperty" where the monster bucks just stand around and beg for you to shoot them.If you make a questionable shot, you'll come to learn that you made a "horrible shot" and probably didn't practice enough - probably shouldn't even be bowhunting at all due to your lack of skill. It's the culture around here. It's what they do.

Keep your head up, guy. I'm hoping that you find your buck, either dead or see him alive. Either way, I'd be happy for you. I appreciate and respect people who actually put the time in, instead of just running their mouth. I know you do, and I'm hoping that you find some closure.

no rob..noone found him that i know of. headed to t hre farm shortly to see...if i had 1000000$ id bet hes alive. if hes alive the farmer will see him coonhunting or farming. theres just so many bucks out there he might not beable to ID it as MINE. that kid that was talkin to me was just asking about it because he heard the story...funny how word will spread. before i called ANYONE but my dad and my buddy THAT buddy already told 2 people! lol only people i told was you guys, my dad, and my girlfriend. oh well..

quik..you got that right! funny thing is.....thats coming from the SAME kid that last year shot a bow like 4 times...went hunting one day in a spot my farmer friend recomended and MISSED 2 shooter bucks before 9am!! oh well...im over it. im pretty convinced that deers ALIVE. 6 of us combed atleast a half mile from last blood in all directions. 5yds apart in thick stuff..10yds apart in open woods. the blood trail was atleast 400yds long and he wasnt being pushed and never once did he lay down. only time he even slowed was after he bounded a couple log piles...but that muzzy is still in him..that had to hurt..still didnt bed. i thought FOR sure hed be on the other side of the logpile downed. im gunna give that spot a little rest..but another week or 2 ill be back in there. opening day of rifle ill be in that tree if i dont get one before then. someone is bound to kick him out to me in rifle season. he cant duck a bullet from the mauser!! i hate to pick up the rifle again...but i wanna put him down and put my tag in his ear!

Well boys just took 2 hrs vaca for Monday and Tuesday, they look good for deer hunting.

Dad saw big 8 last night, walk right by my south stand. I guess he beat up a bush pretty bad!!

Well I got my big web project done, boss said it could not be done. I told him I hunt in Nov, I do not work. So I work plenty of late nights to get the project done early, now I have no worries!!!

awesome germ!! sounds like you got some hunting time floating your way! good luck with the youth hunter! and good luck gettin the big boy!!

i just got in from my day. went and got my arrow and 400yds of flagging tape. id REALLY like to know what i hit EXZACTLY now. i only lost about 3-4inches of shaft plus the muzzy 3blade 100gr head. granted the part of the shaft i have had another 3-4 inches of blood on it thats only 6-8 inches of penetration!! heavier arrows are definently in order for next year. im shooting about 58-60lbs of ke..and know i made a bad hit..but it got stopped QUICK. only thing it could been was backbone or shoulder. oh well live and learn..live and learn.

on a brighter note...i went and checked out the other spot the farmer told me about. sneaking in there stand on my back bow in my hand i had 1 slip out on me. counldnt see the head but it was a bigger bodied deer. so i scout around. THICK creek bottom and 50yds of a hillside..but a good trail going through the hillside. i knew they were in there. i was following big tracks on the trail the whole way. found the ONLY climbable tree in the area. got small branches all over it and id have to trim a few shooting lanes. no biggie..the sign in there is good. its a little white oak patch growing up..theres some trees that are TRASHED..a buck got MAD and tore them to shreds. theres also trails coming from across the creek and such right there..so figured that spot would be the best id find...walked around a bit and theres no other climbable trees. too far and thick to carry in a ladder stand. i just might have to though..its a PIA to climb. the bottom is HUGE for about 2 foot..then narrows and is straight the rest of the way. probably going to hunt that tomarrow after work. i made a brush pile with my trimmings and made sure i didnt OVER trim. even left some cover up at the top of my climb. cut a few holes to count points in..and 2 to shoot from if they come through that white oak patch. theres trails going through it and trails along the edge between me and it so i dont know where they will go. nice close shootin..my farmer friend agreed i need to let my spot calm down, thats the second shooter buck shot in that spot. though mine isnt officially DEAD he got shot there and doubt he comes back any time soon..
