awesome germ!! sounds like you got some hunting time floating your way! good luck with the youth hunter! and good luck gettin the big boy!!

i just got in from my day. went and got my arrow and 400yds of flagging tape. id REALLY like to know what i hit EXZACTLY now. i only lost about 3-4inches of shaft plus the muzzy 3blade 100gr head. granted the part of the shaft i have had another 3-4 inches of blood on it thats only 6-8 inches of penetration!! heavier arrows are definently in order for next year. im shooting about 58-60lbs of ke..and know i made a bad hit..but it got stopped QUICK. only thing it could been was backbone or shoulder. oh well live and learn..live and learn.

on a brighter note...i went and checked out the other spot the farmer told me about. sneaking in there stand on my back bow in my hand i had 1 slip out on me. counldnt see the head but it was a bigger bodied deer. so i scout around. THICK creek bottom and 50yds of a hillside..but a good trail going through the hillside. i knew they were in there. i was following big tracks on the trail the whole way. found the ONLY climbable tree in the area. got small branches all over it and id have to trim a few shooting lanes. no biggie..the sign in there is good. its a little white oak patch growing up..theres some trees that are TRASHED..a buck got MAD and tore them to shreds. theres also trails coming from across the creek and such right there..so figured that spot would be the best id find...walked around a bit and theres no other climbable trees. too far and thick to carry in a ladder stand. i just might have to though..its a PIA to climb. the bottom is HUGE for about 2 foot..then narrows and is straight the rest of the way. probably going to hunt that tomarrow after work. i made a brush pile with my trimmings and made sure i didnt OVER trim. even left some cover up at the top of my climb. cut a few holes to count points in..and 2 to shoot from if they come through that white oak patch. theres trails going through it and trails along the edge between me and it so i dont know where they will go. nice close shootin..my farmer friend agreed i need to let my spot calm down, thats the second shooter buck shot in that spot. though mine isnt officially DEAD he got shot there and doubt he comes back any time soon..
